Upgrading irons

I'm looking to upgrade my Cobra S3 irons which I do love, but just to the point of wanting something newer. What would be a Good Forgivable yet workable set of Irons?

Apex is a great idea. I think the 19 version is even more similar.

Check Callaway Preowned. Exceptional selection of 21 Apex at this point. Their “As new” is really actually new in most cases.

No my S2 are not forged, if they were I probably would not change

The regular S2s were more of a game improvement club. More like Ping g425/410, Callaway Mavrik. Depending on your swing, do yourself a favor and step into a high quality GI like Srixon ZX5.

Well I have to have a game improvement iron now thats why I have the S2s, as I'm getting close to 50yrs of age and my swing is not as good as once was Lol!

Understood. I'll stick with my ZX5 recommendation. Maybe ZX4 in the longest iron.

I've been trying to get feedback on Radspeeds, and have seen 2 threads where they're queried with zero replies.

Honestly between the T100 and T100s you cant go wrong. Just figure out flight and spin numbers to see which one is best for you. I played a round with my MP-18 MBs and it was only then I realized how forgiving the T100's really are.

I would have to agree with other members that have mentioned the Apex Pro 21. I started the year off with my 18 X forged then had the oportunity to play the T100s and the Ping i210 but nothing felt as soft or hit as well as the Apex Pros I currently have. I STRONGLY recommend getting fit for any club you get and make sure you get the right shaft. The Mizuno shaft fitting tool that many pro fitters use was spot on with me. Good luck and I hope you find the perfect club for your game.

It seems like you’ve had those irons for a while. If you see yourself doing that again, I think pings hold up as well as any.

 

any chrome or shiny headed iron will show much more wear and bag chatter

Any Ping I iron sound like something that would work. Very forgiving but workable when needed.

He says he needs GI.  Those certainly don’t qualify...

I think you can add Mizuno JPX Hot Metal to the short list.
