Random Club Thief at Scottish Open

I wish the courts imposed harsh penalties on acts like this and then the media followed up on the repercussions. This guy gets 30 years and a $25,000 fine and it would deter some other idiot. There was a guy that ran naked at TPC Scottsdale one year in front of thousands of people at the pro am, he wound up doing some community service instead of being convicted as a sex offender. The guy at the US Open that hit balls in the final round - would have liked to see security beat the tar out of him, then also have him do some prison time. Most of these idiots know nothing will happen to them, we have catered to this nonsense for too long, there is really no going back now.

Really, 30 years in prison for Rory’s club theft, register as a sex offender for streaking?

Now do "Parade's End"! Best novel (or more properly, a trilogy) on the British fin de siecle - and also a pretty good HBO miniseries. Well worth the time.

Less fun when it's a bloke, admittedly; but not akin to acts of terrorism or serial murder from the perspective of jurisprudence.

 

Admittedly, I'm half-Scandinavian, though, so I'm not so traumatised by the sight of naked bodies as some may be.

Honestly, there's a gulf of difference in my mind between that scenario and a jolly hockeysticks streaker who's been on the Pimm's at a cricket match.

That's legal here in Oregon.  If he was aroused or attempted to arouse somebody else, then it's indecent exposure here.  California has a similar law according to google.
