Beat out my Titliest TSi3.  I have the Ventus in the Gen X and had a AD BB in the TSi3.  Now that I have my weights adjusted correctly to fit me, the PXG is flying higher with lower spin and I am loving it.

Go with the one that you like the looks, feel and sound.

Then get fit for that driver.

It beat out my 0811X Proto. I took the Proto in to look at changing shafts and ended up buying the Gen 4.

I hated the look of the Gen 4 woods at first. It took me about 3 swings to get over it.

I felt the same way about the crown and now I love the way it sits behind the ball. The silver just point to the ball and makes me really want to hit it hard.

For me PXG Proto x beat out SIM Max. Start of this year I had Proto X and SIM2 Max. Once I got Gen4 it immediately kicked out both and wasn't close. I didnt add 15 or 20 yards but probably about 5 yards and tighter dispersion

Something about the Gen4 gives me more confidence and very easy to hit straight

I have the Proto and am hitting it well. Did you see a lot of improvement with the Gen 4?

I think of you have a Proto dialed in then it is good as anything. I played the Proto+ for many months and moved on to the Gen4 and it is better for me. I like the feel of it better, seems lower spin, and more forgiving. I do like the crown better too. That’s is just me though. Others still love the Proto.

Hard to pass on the cheap prices right now for the Gen4.

I'm looking really hard at these right now too. That price is hard to beat, shoot, even the $225 proto. Shaft decision is the tricky one for me. I'm torn between paying the upcharge for a good low/low profile shaft option (possibly pro white) or trying a no upcharge option and just swapping tips on my current RDX black 6.5TX that I love. Might just grab the riptide X to try, I played an evenflow black for a while and it was surprisingly pretty decent.

Only issue is the price plus curiosity is why i'm looking. I'm hitting my TSi2 really well right now. That is a sweet package of distance and forgiveness.

I would say the Gen4 X is very forgiving in my opinion. @evoviiiyou has lots of experience with PXG and Sim. He is your guy for this.

Osprey, I see you have the exact same set up i was thinking of getting. What kind of numbers are you getting on your driver.  BTW, this is for my son, currently plays an M6 w/ TM ventus blue stiff.  He recently tried his sister's Sim 2 max w/ the TM ventus blue and he said he hits it better with it.  I haven't had him fitted or anything yet.

Thanks for the kind words Osprey my brother.

Yes, racingdc9 this is correct Gen4X for my eye, is physically/ size wise (minus twist face and color ways) very comparable to the Sim2Max and M6, and the Gen4XF being larger footprint size wise than all three.  I also think that with the adjustable weight ports in the Gen4X you can make it play like a SIM2 heavy weight forward to cut spin, or in the rear port for more of a Sim2Max weighting scheme. Where the Sim2Max wins vs everyone here is in the heel strike miss, Gen4X wins on center low miss, and all three are great on the toe miss (all very comparable distance spin wise).

The one bonus that should be noted is how much you can adjust the weight scheme and mass where you want it on the Gen4X. This would be my deciding factor if it were for my son (and I would get the adjustable weight kit) so we could do a few buckets over the course of a week and dial that in from a flight distance stand point and then of course they all have the loft sleeve to dial it in further provided you are starting out with the correct loft to start with to optimize his flights and distances. PM if you have any questions if additional thoughts are needed.

The lack of YouTube video reviews as well as internet reviews and forum threads regarding the Gen 4 driver is nuts. I’ve literally been looking for a few days now and there’s just not much out there.

People always knock PXG on price, but this driver retailed before this recent sale at the same price as almost everyone else at $550. From those that play it, I’ve heard nothing but good things, but man it’s hard to find testing info on it.

I had the Proto 0811x since it came out, then switched to Radspeed XB as it was just more forgiving for me. Then got a deal on the Gen4 and it’s been in the bag since. Just as forgiving as the XB, a little longer 5-10 yds but ball flight is almost dead straight and driver has become my #1 weapon in the bag. I hated the look of the top until I had one in hand and actually played it. Like others it helps line me up and I don’t notice it after that. The Gen4 is better sounding/feeling to me too. And it seems even Hotter then the 2 drivers it kicked out.

Cobra SZextreme to SIM2MAX to Proto+ to Gen4X back to Proto+ and going with the Gen4XF for tomorrow’s round. Was able to tinker a bit at the range today with the weighting and loft sleeve in the XF to get it feeling pretty strong. Need a couple real rounds with her to make the permanent decision for the rest of the year between Proto+ and G4XF. I do have to admit the XF sounds more powerful and has a stronger face feel on the ball which I’m loving. Also love the face paint alignment dots similar to the SIM2 dna. It’s nice to set up to and in turn square it up.

Will do. Got it optimized from today for sure. 15gram ft port, 5gram heal port, and 2.5 rear port, loft sleeve on the flattest “PXG” setting. Pure bombs that were rattleing my ear drums lol.

Oh man! Love those butters for sure. You are going to have a great ball striking day I suspect. Just remember to go for the front edge numbers with those powerful sticks. Enjoy dialing
