Locast gets me about 90% of what I need, and I borrow an xfinity streaming password once or twice a month for some of the stuff that shows on ESPN, TNT, TBS, etc. I usually get SlingTV for a month if I know I'm going to watch a bunch (ie March for NCAA basketball conference tournaments and March Madness).

Just added locast to the Roku.  Loads of free channels, even some that are on sling.

 

With this and Pluto I just might give sling the heave ho.  They just bumped prices starting next month and I know where it goes from there.  This month was $50 for sling with my extras, next month will be $60 and then it will probably keep getting bumped just like DTV did to us a number of years ago.

Yeah, the price increase sucks..

If it goes any higher, I might look elsewhere..

I was a die-hard Playstation Vue subscriber until they ended the service. I tried all the options and ended up on Sling for a while, but after I found Locast to scratch my sports itch I dropped Sling. When my mom comes to visit it's easy to turn it back on for a month so she won't have to navigate the various apps, but we've cut our combined internet/tv bill to below $100/month for the first time ever and my family has no complaints. We were previously at $200/month with 5 HD DVR boxes, sports packages, premium channels, etc. That's 2 rounds of golf/month back in my pocket.

 

We're still on a couple of promo deals (Disney+ free through my wife's Verizon service, Hulu $2/month black friday deal from last year), but when those end our monthly lineup will look like this:

$50 Frontier 500 Fiber Internet

$14 Netflix 2 screens

$14 Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ Bundle

$5 Locast

Amazon Prime Video (included in Prime subscription)

PlutoTV, IMDBtv, Crackle and a couple other freebies 

*May add HBO+ if they keep getting new movies on release day

I cut cable too.  Well, sorta.  I kept my cable for high speed internet only.  We then added YouTube TV.  What I really like is the recordings of shows, including golf, are stored on their server and I can access them when I want.  Once I add PGA Tour to the library, or the Euro Tour, it will automatically record those shows without me doing anything additional.  I am not limited to how many recordings that can happen at once.
