Anyone go from Vokey sm7 or sm8s to the t22 wedges? Currently playing the sm7 wedges and know what grinds work well for me with Vokeys, but curious to try something different

what grinds do you currently use?  I am in the same boat, considering matching my SM7s to either SM9 or these T22.

That copper is the best color they came out with.  Really looks classy.

Why would they come out and sell denim if I'm reading they shortly look like crap after use?   Is this right?   Wtf....

I have had denim t22 for 4 months. They are holding up well. Sure the finish is scuffed and not prescribe. But I think that is kind of the point of these wedges. Some like a bit of a battered look. As long as the still perform. Which they do. The only issue is like @knudson81 mentioned in his podcast. they seem to run low on the bounce. I prefer more mid to mid high bounce on basically all my wedges. Something in the 10-12 range for everything.

Do you feel the bounce is low in actual usage? I was accidentally sent an S grind 54 with 12 degrees of bounce instead of the D grind that I ordered. The 12 bounce seemed way higher than other brands of wedges I’ve used in the past. I got the replacement 54 D with 8 degrees of bounce and it seems about perfect to me. I prefer mid to mid high as well and this seems like what I’m looking for.

Seems low to me. But I am a pretty crappy wedge player..

Carl’s Golfland has these under the customize options. I went to a local shop and got custom ones in within a couple of weeks

S Grind = F Grind

D Grind = D Grind

X Grind = Mix if K and M

With the X grind being a mix of K and M, is the sole wider on the X versus the S, D, or C like the vokey low bounce K grind? I'm very happy with my 50S and 54D. Now I want to put one in the 58 spot in my bag 🙂

the 60.06 X grind is so money on short flop shots it's ridiculous. play from a lot to kikuyu here in so cal and this wedge has literally allowed me to not try to chunk and run those shots like before, able to use loft to stop the ball now, it's been an adjustment but a good one.

That’s good to hear! Exactly what I’m looking for myself.  Is the X grind sole wider than the other grinds?

in terms of the X compared to the C I don't know, I bought these online so I've never actually held the C to know. but it is wider than my 56.10 D grind. I also have a mizuno T7 60.06 and when the face is open it looks the the T22 has more bounce and the leading edge sits higher of the ground. both soles of the T7 and T22 are about the same size but the T22's trailing edge seems "heftier" which I think makes it a little more "K" grind I guess. definitely an improvement over the T7 hitting lil flop shots out of the rough.

I needed a new LW.  I went back and forth. Order one of these or wait for SM9. I just ordered a 58D.

When you hold them side by side the shape is very similar to a Vokey SM8. The 58D is very similar to the Vokey 58D.  Nice traditional shape and gentle curve at the leading edge.

The bounce thing did bother me. I prefer a higher bounce wedge. There is no high bounce 60 option in T22. I guess you could bend the 58D but it’s already bent 2 degrees and you would end up with 14 degrees of bounce.

Once I decided to go with 58 instead of 60 I went with the T22. Other things that are nice is the copper underlay and finish, the no charge grip ungrade and the standard length is +1/4 inch compared to most other OEMs. Which is nice because the rest of my set is +1/4 inch.

How do the T22's compare in feel to the T7's and T20's. I've owned both the 7's and 20's and did not like them--felt hard and clicky to me, especially for a forged wedge. I know the T22's have the copper underlay. Does that make a difference?

So if you've played the 7's or 20's and found them hard and clicky as I did, how do the T22's feel?

I owned the 20's. The 22's are much softer in feel - the copper underlay helps a lot.

I did this and was shocked it worked.  Best deal I could find and the bonus of having all the options.  They’ll be here Saturday, ordered 12-2 so not too bad.  54-08 and 58-04 in copper.
