Mizuno T22 wedges preview

I think they look good ... had a great weekend experience at THP and Mizuno.

I like the look of the copper, but the current blue ion frames the ball much better.  So lame that they are going away from the blue wedges.

Oh, the copper frames the ball quite well and softens things up.

Is this just a copper coating or do they have the copper underlay as well? Sorry if I missed that elsewhere.

they have the copper underlay too. Raws don’t. 
 

I almost ordered the t20 when they were released. When mizuno is ready to release these, I’ll be putting the order in. Still debating to do raw or copper. 46 through lob wedge

Thanks. Raw with copper underlay would have been the holy grail, but no matter. These still look great and it would be easy enough to strip them if required.

Not a coating. As you hit it balls, you can still see copper as it wears.

I think it’s plated, i think the blue ion was an ion application, so it’s wear off.

Yes, the blue ion wears off and turns to raw. I can confirm the sighting of a Blue Ion PW last weekend. But a past club, not a future one.

Eddie Pepperell has gone back to Mizuno after a very brief stint with Ping. Here are his wedges, with some nice looking grinds.

I've got the same grinds as the ones shown - if you be a picker/neutral - these work.

That address pic shows me why I played Mizuno wedges for almost my entire life. I get lured by Vokey/Cleveland/Cally, but always come back to the mothership.

 

Its quite likely just the comfort of being used to it, but MAN, no OEM can satisfy my eye as much as Mizuno for irons and wedges. Wilson staff are pretty good and Ping players irons with their toe shape are also nice, but Mizuno is still the gold standard to me.

 

After I get my irons sorted out, I will own a set of these for sure

I wasn't due for new wedges but the copper ones are looking good.  Might just have to bite the bullet and get a set

At the THP-Mizuno Event, Vosh said October, ST-G220 will release at same time.

Been gaming the t20 wedges and was probably going back to vokeys….maybe not after seeing these.  Wondering the tech difference between t20 and t22, other than looks .

I gamed T7 (loved them) and currently T20's. I was going to move back to Vokeys too, purely for grind+bounce options. I'm going to wait and see specifics of these new combos they'll be offering.

I haven't heard anything about changing the formula of the steel - yes, for some of you, I guess 3% boron - yes, 3%, is too much. lol. I played the T20 in raw and satin and they felt great to me. The copper plating in the T22 gives the softness you want. If you want to make sure that wedge is softer than a baby's behind, get the copper.

 

Edit: I will say the boron preserves the grooves longer than other wedges. Played the T20's for 19 months and the grooves are still great.

This is the truth. On a side note, I appreciate the video and overview, but in two and a half minutes of the video, we see a quick couple of shots of the wedge and most of it is us looking at the guy holding the new wedge. Maybe they don't want to show it off more? Sub70 does this on their site, they have videos linked to clubs, but it's the owner or some dude talking about it. I don't get it.

The grind/bounce/loft options vokey provides is the primary reason I keep buying them.  If Mizzy can offer more options + copper/raw for less than $315 wedgeworks price... they'd have a definite winner.

Looking at that copper denim finish makes me seethe in agony that my brand new raw T20s are due to arrive in a week or two. 

 

The T20s are great wedges and I love raw finishes but it does sting a little bit knowing how close I was to this release

Just starting to prep my build for my irons for the next 2-3 years and these T22 Coppers are going to fit nicely next to my MIM Coppers. All in the Accra iSeries Steel that has a bit of a matte green/grey sheen. Can't wait!
