Highest one hole score?

not me, but two I witnessed

13th hole High Elms Kent, monster par three stroke 2, saw a chap hit 9 off the tee. Thats 9. different balls. Most were in the woods on the left, and it occurred to me he'd have no idea what ball was what when he found them. Couldnt pick up it was an all scores count team event net strokeplay. Dont recall what he put on the card but no chance it was correct

Other one was an approx 28 on about the 11th at Queens Park Bournemouth.  Chap played cack handed, completely lost the plot. At one point he was going up a grass bank and as a friend of mine behind us famously said, he looked like a lawnmower. Truth is we have absolutely no clue what he scored but a 28 went on the card. Could have been twice that.

14 on a par 5.

First three tee shots OB left.  Finally got one in play, then punched it down the fairway and pulled my approach shot OB left again.  On the green and 3 putt.

Was out as a twosome and because they were no doubter's going OB, reloading did not take much time...so pace of play wasn't impacted and we were waiting for the group in front on the next tee box.  Best part was that I gave the option to my buddy at the start of the round whether we would play match or stroke play and he picked match.  Won 3 up.

Carded a 16 on the 16th at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course during a college tournament back in like 2011. It was the most baffled I've ever been on the golf course. Went on to par the last 2 holes and shoot a 92. Followed that up with a 78 the next day. Thankfully, I can say I've never come close to that since.

In the A flight club championship two years ago, I was in the final group on the last day (36 holes) of the championship. A young guy lead after the first day with a 77, three ahead of the other guys in our group. He was long but wild but got away with it on the front none (even par 36) increasing his lead over a couple of us by 2 more.

On the 10th hole his luck ran out. His first drive was so far left into a clump of trees and we could not find it. He borrowed an older gentleman’s cart to go back to the tee. His second tee shot was about the same but fortunately we were forcaddying and found it under a tree and he had to take an unplayable lie. Trying to be a hero, he thinned a shot into the same tree. This time he hacked out and the adventure continued. He ended up on the green with his 11th shot and one putted for 12. Needless to say, he didn’t win. I had the misfortune of being his marker.

I have told this before, and it was not me, but a friend of mine.  Not quite on topic but close.

Like everywhere, club championship has a bunch of flights.  He is a 2 and I am a 4.  We both play 1 flight down from the championship flight, he gunning for the gold gross and me for the gold net.  This is really the only legit stroke play event we have all year.

Per usual he is leading the gross and will probably win by a few shots.  Has a good round and heads to grab a drink and turn in the card.  He knew exactly what he shot because he was keeping his own score while marking someone else.  For whatever reason he writes down his total (76), signs his card and sits down to watch the pros fill up the scoreboard.  3 minutes later a pro's eyes get real wide and he walks over to him.  His marker did not write down his score on 18 so the box was empty.  The 76 went in the wrong box and he signed for a 147.

So not a real one hole score, but a recorded one hole score.

Next day the pros had a scorers table prepared....

I took a 12 on a par 4 and never lost my ball. Now granted the ball looked like it hit every tree and cart path Iron Horse had to offer on that particular hole (and it did) but I also finished the round with the ball I started with, battle scars and all.

A bag of left-handed junk.

I don't remember a single score, but I don't remember any 10s. I remember 8s, but no 9s/10s.

My highest rounds ever were my first 2 ever. I shot 62 twice my first two 9s i ever played when I was 15. I have never shot in the 60s for 9holes since (25years later.) I was breaking 90 within 2 years in highschool. Broke 70 two years later in college.

Very first golf hole I ever played. Was 13 years old, playing on a Friday morning at the course where I caddied. I had never had any lessons, just hit a few iron shots on local ball field the day before.

Was par 4 about 400 yards long, and I scored a 19. And, I had to sink a 40-foot putt to prevent 20.

(I didn't lose a ball! Longest shots went maybe 50 yards.)

I made 13 on the 17th hole at Lagoon Legend in Panama City, FL. The course has since been redesigned but at the time had the highest slope rating in the country. Pumped three OB off the tee, hit 7 from the tee and plugged it in the lip of the bunker, took an unplayable, 9 out of the bunker left me 220 into the island green. 10th missed the carry by a yard, dropped in the hazard… And here’s where it got laughable, took my drop and hit my 12th short of the carry but for some reason I to this day still don’t know how, my ball literally BOUNCED off the water up on the green to 6ft and I rolled it in for a bakers dozen….

I've been playing golf a long time. I have plenty of stories of my failures on the course.

My most famous round. LOL..At the time I was a 90's shooter. Going into 9 a par 5 I was 1 under. I ended up taking a 10 on the par 5.

On the back 9 I was playing even par for the back 9 going into 18 a par 3. I ended up taking an 8 on the par 3 which included two tee shots into a swimming pool across the road.

I'm someone that may lose a ball or two during my round. I once lost 11 balls teeing off on one hole. I didn't finish the hole. I picked up after I finally put one in the fairway. The next time I played there and came to that hole a par 5 I birdied the hole.

A few weeks ago, playing Crumpin Fox in Northern Ma near the VT border. 8th hole is a par 5 with water all down the left side, and also almost all the way around the 'front' of the green.

Drive into water. Drop 2. 3 down to about 140 out, over the water. And here's where it went sideways. 4 in, 5 out, 6 in 7 out. I then decided to chip a little down the fairway, 8 for a 100 yd shot. 9 in 10 out. 11 up and on and 1 putt for a dozen. I was up 6 before the 8th over my brother that I've only beaten maybe 4 times in the 40 years we've been playing. He ended up being up 1 going to 9. I still got him by 3, but damn. That complete breakdown stung, hard. "Remember that 12 you got?" He's already reminded me twice.

Had a 13 today on a par 4. Topped drive OB X2, another topped drive by the red tee box. Next shot I topped the 3W OB.  Finished it off with a 3-putt. Birdied the next hole, so there’s that…
