Bryson says Cobra Drivers suck, Cobra compares Bryson to Temper Tantrum throwing 8 year old

I wonder if he was pressured to move to the new head and that's part of his frustration. He seemed to be driving the absolute bejesus out of the ball with that older LTD head.

You see “plenty” of TM and Titleist guys playing the older model drivers. Cobra pressuring Bryson into a head he doesn’t like seems unlikely. Would all these OEMs prefer if their guys played the new stuff? Absolutely. Will they “force” them to play something they don’t like… Doubt it.

It's exactly as I said earlier.  He left school a year early when the NCAA sanctioned SMU's golf program.  He went to SMU for three years.  This is common knowledge among anyone who's followed high level amateur golf over the last little while.

And something tells me that if he had been chipping away at community college night classes over the last five years to ACTAULLY earn a degree--all while playing full time on tour--we never would've heard the end of it from the big boi himself.

...Jodi Cooley, the director of the undergraduate physics program at Southern Methodist University...

...After DeChambeau had finished at SMU — with his physics degree — Cooley developed a one-off honors course that focused on the physics of sports....

Has the bottom not completely fallen out of the Long Drive competitive scene over the past couple of years?

Yes. Covid cancelled everything last year. Golf Channel has had the entire LDA Tour for sale for a couple of years now with no takers. Appears to be a few small local events but nothing on a national level.

Childish outbursts should NEVER be tolerated, least of all by so-called adults.  I understand the 8yr old analogy by the tour rep, but Cobra should NOT tolerate criticism, given the associated revenue tied to the player and equipment.  And the after-the-fact, public apology is worthless, as the earlier remark has already done damage, the question is how and where.

It's fun watching BD hit the ball, but listening to his public distortions at times is worthy of changing the channel.  Maybe that's one of the reasons I like older Phil M... he's long and misses the fairway too, only he acts his age about the reality of being long.

Cobra should just dump him. They've done more than enough for the guy. I mean come on, they're the only big OEM doing the single length thing solely because of their relationship with him. I'd rather they just dump him and pursue some of the younger guys. Maybe even try to get a guy like Poulter back into the fold. I still feel weird seeing Poulter in Titleist. Let Bryson become someone else headache.

Not really much of a difference.  Both uttered a regrettable sentiment.  Justin knew his utterance COULD possibly be heard by others or picked up by a microphone.  Bryson’s knew his utterance WOULD definitely be heard by others.  Justin’s was hurtful and less forgivable.  Bryson’s was an embarrassing remark that affects his own business relationship with a sponsor.

Sounds pretty different to me....

I agree Bryson should be sacked. He's paid to endorse their products. Saying their product "sucks" at a major championship is the opposite of an endorsement. And not having to work with that PITA any longer would be the icing on the cake for Cobra.

I don't know.. delivery could have been better. But we all know he was working something into the interview..

BDC better grow some seriously thick skin or it's gonna be a bit taxing on the brain..

Let’s just say, I’d bet not a lot of people associate Koepka and quick witted. 😉

Cobra would be stupid to dump him.....they are way behind in terms of market share compared to Callaway, Titleist, Ping, TM....but their claim to fame right now is that they make clubs for the longest driver on Tour (currently).  Losing him would be disastrous to the brand.

It was a fastball down the middle but credit to Koepka for taking the swing. And I've most certainly not favored Koepka in this whole silly dust-up. Made me laugh. DeChambeau earned the burns he's receiving at the moment.

On titleist I agree they seem pretty relaxed about guys playing older models. Taylormade is usually pushing the new drivers on their top guys pretty hard. This year seems to be a bit of an anomaly for a few of their top guys to stick with the SIM.

Cobra is living or dying with Bryson for their driver sales so I’m sure there is some pressure applied.

Has anyone noticed if he has a different model in the bag today?
