At this point, after reading the entire thread, I don’t really care about the Cobra issue. I just want to know if he has a degree!

😂😂😂

My post was based on me believing these yahoos that he had a degree, lol

Forget Bryson, I'm the *sshole😜🤪

I hope all's well Brotha👊

I don't care how many degrees Bryson has, I know what he doesn't have for being the smartest guy in the room.

A CSI.... Common Sense Index. Street smarts, whatever.

He's the guy that gets a nail in his tire tread then pulls out the nail because it's not supposed to be there. Tire goes flat, drives 80 mph on the donut and can't hit a fairway.

He's the guy that files a false advertising complaint against the Post cereal company because Grape Nuts contains neither grapes nor nuts.

LOL, y'all are just piling on for a potential blue circled white heart... Let it go. Do you think that this latest golf drama is the first and most egregious? Do you think this is unique to the golf sport alone? LOL... I can forgive the youngins but not you well seasoned sport vets.... 😂

I've been emailing the Golf Channel, hoping they'll do an inspirational segment on Bryson and how amazing it must have been for him to go back to school and finish his degree considering all of the travel and practice it takes to play golf professionally.

Anyone else want to join in this?

I'm a seasoned, cynical sports fan to be sure, but I've never heard an interview where a fully sponsored professional golfer flat out says their club sucks!

Let us have our fun!!

I realize most people posting in this thread took 7 years to finish their bachelor's degree (along with Tommy Callahan), but it is possible to graduate in 3. In fact, some people actually do that.

Yes, it is possible. Bryson is not one of them, though.

I value the truth and believe society must value the truth.

I guess JT has a right to make comments on Instagram like anyone else, but that's a pretty weak look imo. Calling him "mr physics"

I don't think he'd make these comments to Bryson's face 🤷‍♂️

I read a couple of things into the slightly cheap shot.

#1, the other guys were tired of just about every question for a long time being about Bryson and the distance he was hitting it.

#2, the other players don’t like him and his “scientist” schtick very much

I can't see any way Cobra keeps its relationship with Bryson.  How much does your #1 spokesperson going on TV and saying your product sucks, cost a company financially?  Has to be in the millions.  Why pay a player to damage your brand?

It would be akin to Ricky Fowler going on Twitter and saying Rocket Mortgage is a bunch of money hungry crooks.

Fact is Cobra's design for him benefits 99.99999% of us golfers nothing but results in new drivers that cost all of us >$500!

Yeah.  Right.

Every time he changes a club, the price for a Cobra club goes up for the consumer?

"Well, Bryson just requested a new driver head, so we've got to jack up the price another 10 bucks or we'll be in bankruptcy."

Club manufacturers are no different from any other manufacturer in any other industry.  They price their clubs as high as their target customer will tolerate and hope to get that price and have a returning customer.  Part of that cost is somewhat fixed- i.e. endorsements.  They know the cost/ benefits of endorsements.   If one player expands,  another contracts.

If Long-Drive-McGee helps them sell a lot more clubs than Mary-misses-greens,  then Mary's salary goes down and LDMG's goes up.

Frankly, I like Cobra clubs, and I hope this fallderaha and curfluffle helps their company.

If an equipment’s company primary product endorser (DeChambeau) says the equipment (Cobra) sucks, why should average golfers choose that brand over another that is loved by the endorser (Ping, Callaway, Titleist, Taylormade)?

Because Bryson's ball striking and his special equipment needs is irrelevant to average golf consumers needs. Yet everyone buying clubs is funding the pros equipment when we buy clubs.

Because he isn’t a very good “scientist”. As someone that’s a career chemist with a masters and published paper, when an experiment doesn’t give reproducible results you abandon it. I’m fed up of hearing he’s a scientist, he isn’t.

Bryson won one major where the rough was short and thick and strength was an advantage. He has done very little since and isn’t bright enough to slow down slightly or use a shorter club to hit a fairway. You don’t need to be a “scientist” to work out why he can’t hit a fairway, yet he can’t work it out.

Since his US Open win Bryson has 1 win, 5 top tens and has missed one cut.  He has made approximately 3.5 million dollars in that time.  If that qualifies as 'very little' I will take it any day!

The 'criminal' prices charged by the likes of Cobra are driven in part by the R&D they have to do to keep the tour pro's happy. You can be sure the tour pro's don't pay and you can be doubly sure that Cobra don't let such costs get in the way of their target margins.... i.e. the consumer pays.

I have to say getting up this early in the morning and only seeing his ugly mug and stupid hat on most of the coverage is enough to make me break a club or toss the cat.

His driver is likely a CINO, (Cobra In Name Only) and far from anything found at your local store. Probably along the lines a race car with a “Chevy” sticker on the front.

Waaaaaay back when the Taylormade Burner Bubble came out there were pro’s with copper painted Midsize heads, bubble shafts without the “bubble”, and graphics aligned so they could be read by spectators at address.

Driver marketing is easy: Find the longest hitter and put your name in his hands.

Its all just a repeat of John Daly...
