Miura Vs. Kyoei Who Feels Better???

PDWALKER

Recommended Posts

Kyoei KK MB is better than any of my miura sets including BB,MB, MC, 301’s.

I love the grind on the KKs as well.

I do go back and forth between the KKs and the MBs as the MBs are hard to beat. Just look and play great.

I’ve been on an s55 kick lately for forgiveness due to more tourney play and man they are not nearly the same!  😂

I played a set of Kyoei KK wedges in 52, 56, 60 degrees before switching to Miuras.  I personally preferred the Miuras as it's a more dense "soft".  Kyoei's wedge felt decent for sure, but it has such sharp leading edges and I usually play in soft conditions so went with Miuras.

I was able to borrow some Kyoei's from my  pro friend- even with the extra stiff shaft, they felt great and hit well

I appreciate the history and workmanship of Miura, but like the Porsche and Colt Pythons I have owned , have found them a bit disappointing

I still have the miuras- , pretty to look at but prefer my xxio forged  or mizunos

It’s not a comparable deal.  Kyoei is the softest in raw form.  It’s not debatable.  A raw vega iron or wedge and a soft ball and you can’t feel center impact.

but Miura is a solid reliable and very pleasant feel. It’s dependable.  Where Kyoei almost isn’t it’s so soft.    So it entirely depends on your what’s.  If you want pillow soft a raw vega etc will be it.  If you want traditional solid as can be feel that won’t feel harsh anywhere.  It’s miura.

Both feel different I will say that.  I had the Vega VDC-01 which I gave to my brother.  They are extremely soft.  I have Miura wedges and have tried their other irons from various friends of mine.  I will agree with you when you say that Miuras feel different in that it's more of a solid feel.

There is such a thing as too soft at impact, the other thing is offset.  It's one thing for a 'feel player' to go for the soft material in wedges, as the ball sits on the face fractionally longer than other materials, but I wouldn't want my irons to be that soft.  Too soft of material mutes impact vibrations more than other materials.  It's those vibrations that tell us what the ball is doing.   I have some Miura wedges collecting dust.  They feel great except I don't especially like the high toe, but that's me.  Also have 1018 forged wedges, soft as butter, feel fantastic, but wouldn't want my irons made from that.

Head material and consistency are partly why I chose 1025 carbon steel 620 MBs, it's made from a solid block of steel.

I play small blades,I had a set of vega RAF CM blades (that I made raw and regret greatly selling them), so fwiw from my stance I would say I agree with the other guy.  I would still play my Miuras, but the Vegas were better feeling than anything I have hit except the small blades but the small blades are not “softer’ just uniquely electric.

i will say this, the reason I slid them was I couldn’t get over the 8-7 transition.  It legit messed with me in round.  I’m kicking around idea of zestaim fi-1 as a GI set but I’m not convinced they will feel like the blades.

I played Vega VM-02 while back and also have Miura MB-101 #6 ONLY. I bought MB-101 #6 while back just to see how Muira felt.  Hit both #6 at range many times.

Both have very soft feel but different.  Vega has clean soft feel and Muira has bouncy soft feel (if that makes sense) I guess everyone has their own preferences.  I personally like Onoff 2011 (Not Blade) feel the best.  It's REALLY SOFT.
