Clarification on requirements for selling WEDGE shafts

Recommended Posts

just read this and am not confident i understand it:

  • Absolutely no selling of new uninstalled shafts. Shaft must be butt cut or tip cut, prepped and tipped.

context:

just bought some brand new wedges and need to get them re-shafted. i would like to sell the shafts the wedges came with. one of the shafts has a grip on it and the other one does not.

i don't understand why wedge shafts would need to be "butt cut or tip cut, prepped and tipped."

could somebody please help me understand what i need to do to meet these requirements so i can sell my wedge shafts?

thank you!

Any new shaft sold here must be cut/trimmed (butt or tip cut) to playing length along with tip sanded/prepped - it’s the rules!

You’re wedge shafts can be sold if they were pulled from iron heads.  That’s assuming the one club missing a grip has been cut to playing length.

yes, there are rules, i understand that. as someone who's new to club fitting and has never sold a club or part, the way this particular rule is phrased does not really speak to me.

the wedge shafts were pulled from iron heads purchased at a major golf retailer. the wedges were standard length. nothing custom about them. i have not altered them in any way.

based on your second sentence, it appears i can just sell the shafts as is. e.g. i do not need to learn how to determine if they are butt cut or tip cut, or whether they have been prepped and tipped. this is the part that was confusing to me. i don't currently have the knowledge or experience to determine these things on my own. if i can safely sell shafts here that were pulled from standard length wedges without having to ask for help to determine these things, i will go ahead and list them.

if this is correct, feel free to lock this thread again. if i've misunderstood, please explain.

thank you

You’re good to go.  That rule is in place to prevent the sale of new uninstalled shafts.
