Leaving a tee next to someone's ball...

Wow....    🙄

He’s 100% correct. The group ahead should post a cart, or a person, where the players behind can see them. The first hole at my old course went over a hill, and we always posted someone on top of the hill so the group on the tee knew there were guys just over the hill.

think with this particular hole there is some shared responsibility.

there isn’t. you’ve gotta just take the loss here and move on.

maybe so.  but that’s putting your personal responsibility on other people. if OP plays this course regularly, sending someone from his group forward when they get to the tee box to see if the fairway is clear seems like a no brainer to avoid this kind of situation.

Depends if I have a cart. The group behind me drove up and waited while I hit last night. If I'm alone and waiting down the fairway, they will drive way past my box. It's just not a good situation.

this is the part i don’t understand.

the group behind you has the good sense to drive past the tee box to check if you’re in the fairway, but you think you shouldn’t have to do the same thing for groups in front of you?

Regularly? It's all members. Everyone knows the layout.

The issue with checking is that there is no turn-around. I would need to try to tuck my cart out of the way and then walk the ~150 yards back to my tee box.

I play the tips. They drive up to blue/white which are 50+ yards ahead of my box. No turn-around.

they’re golf carts, not slot cars. if there’s room to pull off the path and “tuck the cart out of the way” then there’s room to turn around.

again, this doesn’t make sense. if they’ve holed out and gotten to their tee box faster than you can drive 150 yards down and 150 yards back when you arrive at yours, there’s a giant pace of play issue going on

It isn't a local muni. You don't just pull into the rough beside the tee box. Turf team takes a lot of care in their work.

It's a minimum of 250 yards to drive to see the group if they have pulled under the hill. It's 300 if you are going to see the green and understand when they are playing 2nd shots (or 3rd shots in this case).

When I drive back, I can't drive down the path because there is no where to turn around. It gets further complicated when the group behind arrives at the box. The only way to avoid it is to leave the cart approx 150 yards away from the box and walk back/forth.

there’s no room and the cart doesn’t have reverse. so the 150 or 250 or 300 yard drive back to the tee box is impossible because the group behind him that always plays the forward tees finished the last hole and passed his tee box before he could check the hill and get back to tee off safely.

what’s not to understand? 😂😂

Are the tips heavily used on your course? I don't see how it's difficult to understand that the group behind will be driving well past your box when you are not there.

Stake to stake is also not a foreign concept on nice courses. Am I on a golf forum???

Look @JJFWebster, this was some fun back and forth with everyone, until the "no turn around" comment.  That is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard, especially after you post a pic of the hole

You are either really committed to this troll post, or you are a complete idiot.  Read the 5 pages.  No one agrees with you.

Take your loss and go home.

There’s plenty of room to turn the cart around down the hole.  Driving down the hole to check on golfers who are in a blind area so you don’t hit into them would take no more than 2-3 minutes, maybe 4 minutes.  The group behind you won’t even be on the previous green yet.  You would be back on your tee before they complete the previous hole.  It’s not that you didn’t want to make an effort, you just didn’t make an effort.

To me the group in front did the right thing in leaving the tee next to your ball.  Your apparent ignorance to what that means is on you and now you’re upset because the group in front left a non-confrontational reminder.  You escalated the situation by confronting them instead of being an adult and simply apologizing for hitting into them and saying you’ll be more careful and it won’t happen again.

What happened to grace and respect in social situations.  Most people seem to lack this these days.

unless you stop for lunch or crash your cart into a tree on your drive ahead to see if it’s clear to hit, there’s no way the group behind you who is busy playing the last hole is going to finish up, and drive ahead to the forward tees before you get back from your recon mission.

also, that fairway seems to have plenty of room to turn a cart around.

good day, sir!

A par 4 leading into a go-in-2 par 5? You nearly always have to wait. If you are driving 300 yards down the fairway, the group behind will most certainly be at the box by the time you are on your way back.

@JJFWebster time to give up the argument because you're not going to convince anyone now that you have a case.  Too many inconsistencies in your comments, especially after you put up the hole map.  In the future consider the well being of others before your need to go for the green in 2.  Your concern was merely part of a game.  The concern of the group in front was a safety issue.  Do you see your selfishness in this matter?  Time to lick your wounds and move on.

What is inconsistent? It has nothing to do with me going in 2. I am hitting driver on a par 5. Is that unreasonable?

If you always have to wait, then wait.   Waiting a bit longer on your tee shot won't matter, because you will have to wait anyway for the green to clear.

We did wait 5 - 6 minutes from when we last saw them and had already been waiting a few minutes before that time. They had already played 2nd shots when they disappeared. I have no idea what held them up in that area. I've played the hole hundreds of times without issue but as I said, other members understand the layout and do not sit in an area where they aren't visible.
