My 6 picks would be:

Spieth

Cantlay

Berger

Webb

Scheffler

Reed (begrudingly)

Phil does not deserve a spot at this point, great as he was at the PGA.

I would like to see the Captain's picks be the number 7-12 point earners.

For the best ball and alternate shot twosomes pairings I would like to see Stricker draw names out of a golf hat.

For this year I agree. Take the top 12 and be done with it. Same on pairings. They are supposed to be pros.

This will be a good year as both sides won't be super familiar with the course.

Short answer ?  Nope. Not really.

long answer ?  Nope. Not really.  We choose courses that hurt us. Whistling straights doesnt  play to the Americans length advantage like the long rough in France played to the short accurate euro advantage. So that’s a nope.  We have too many meat heads on the team , that won’t play well on that course.  And probably wouldn’t play well anywhere at the moment.  So another nope.  I look for a blowout.

edited again.  I think I’d rather see captain stricker  play than Phil.  I’m not sure he can help.

I also think that captain Steve needs to get Bryson and Brooks little egos in the same room stat.  Tell them to squash it now , or don’t show up and have 2 alternates waiting.  If they started anything during I’d have security remove them.  The childish nonsense from Brooks was part ( part not nearly all ) of the issue in France last time.  He was trying to pick fights with DJ at that point in time.  For what ?  Just  some dumb bully ego deal.  My 2 cents.  Put them both on notice.  Just like two kids headed into church.  “ make a sound and I’ll warm your rear end” .

I just don't think that PGA offsets the rest of the season. That is 15 of 20 starts outside the top 50.

It seems like the U.S. is dominant on paper but always the underdog when they show up at the course (3-7 in the last 10 matches).

As for Phil, no way you can leave the current PGA Champion off the team.  Treat him like a playing Captain.  Have him play one team match with his favorite player and then send him out first for the singles matches on the last day to lead the charge.  Rest of the time he's in the cart giving smack to everyone, especially the obnoxious overly served euros.

It would be a fine send off for Phil and a ceremonial "passing of the baton" as a future captain.  Plus, he will help more than he will hurt the team.  Go Philsy!

Obnoxious overly served Euros? You do realise the US team will probably have Reed, Mickelson, Keopka and Dechambeau in it?

Yes, obnoxious overly served euros.  That wasn't an either/or statement.

Europe stands as one at the Ryder Cup - but what about Brexit?

And just to be clear, I have no problem with obnoxious overly served euros at a Ryder Cup event.

I'm an American and I'll have to admit that we have the most obnoxious fans year round at general golf tournaments with the "mashed potatoes" and the "get in the hole" from 500 yards out. Sure, the Euros show their "arses" a bit at the Ryder Cup, but who doesn't?

Totally a "who knows" that's why we watch.

1.  Will Rory still feel unpatriotic?

2.  Will Brooks and Bryson get in a wrestling match in the locker room, or become BFF's?

3.  Does PR get picked and become Capt America or a total arse?

4.  I could see the likes of Shane Lowrey and some other bonding and playing well or totally folding

5. Poulter?

6.  Sergio?

7.  What is Paul Caseys status and does he even care?

8.  Will Tiger be an assistant capt. and rally the troops or just hang out?

9.  Does Phil get picked and go 0-4 or turn it on and go 3-1, you never know with him.

10.  Does DJ play well and just act like he doesn't care?

I think you have to take PR, unless his game is totally in the dumps.  He's like Lanny Wadkins was, a tough bull dog in match play, and he gets under the skin of the Euros, I hope he straps on his neck choker and starts Shssssh-ing them day one.  🙂

Yes he cares. That's why he was able to play in the 2018 RC after getting his Euro Tour card back in 2018 after a 10 year absence. He is currently 8th in the ET RC standings. He will be on the RC team for Europe likely due to the ET World Points list.

As a European, I definitely have a problem with the self-proclaimed “Guardians”. Like an out of date joke, they need to be forgotten about.

The Ryder Cup certainly brings out the worst in 'fans', from both sides. I've got to the stage where I dread watching it now.

Amazes me that TV continues to give them a platform to stand around looking stupid. Whilst I have never seen the attraction, I get that we Brits seem to like dressing up “interestingly” to attend at sporting events. Surely now, it is not all that novel a concept so not worth showing them in favour of showing actual golf.

I don't get it either. It seems to fit with the modern philosophy of wanting to be part of the entertainment, rather than just watching it.

Sky love that sort of thing. For a while they used to put Di Doherty in the stands to encourage audience involvement.

It has been said before that the Europeans come together as a team, spending time with each other at the functions, during and after the rounds, 12 members coming together as one.  The Americans attend the functions, play the rounds then go on their own afterwards, 12 members staying as 12 individual members.  The reason the Europeans have been so dominant is that the Ryder Cup is a TEAM event and they conduct themselves as one team building an incredible team chemistry.  The Americans don't do this so the team chemistry is missing.  While the US Teams in the past have been filled with the greatest collection of talent there is a systemic pattern of losing because what is missing is team chemistry.  12 coming together as one is always stronger as 12 individuals.  Until the US team can really, and honestly, build team chemistry and really bond there is little chance the US will win consistently in the Ryder Cup.

How can you not take Fatrick with his history in these competitions? I know his form isn't the best, but he thrives in these team tournaments for the US.

If I am Stricker, Speith, Reed, Cantlay, and Scottie are locks based on the current standings.  The final 2 picks would be tough for me, but as of today I go Finau and English.

I remember them doing it at the Ryder Cup in 2014. My overriding thought was stay away from me 😂

I agree with pretty much everyone of those. Another viable option would be swapping out Finau for Berger.

Open Championship - 8th

US Open - 7th

Tons of top 10s and a win at AT&T

Berger has been in good form this year for the most part. The only thing what would concern me about him would be his performance at Kiawah (75th) and Augusta (MC) opposed to Finau at T8 and T10 respectively. Kiawah is about as close as you can get to Whistling Straits that was on this years US schedule.

Yep, and Sergio is generally a below average putter outside of the RC.

To be fair, a couple months out, there are not many of the European’s firing on all cylinders.

The Top 9 Euros at the moment are:-

Rahm

Fleetwood

Hatton

Fitzpatrick

McIlroy

Hovland

Casey

Westwood

Lowry

Hatton, McIlory and Fitzpatrick have hardly been doing much, Westwood is nearly a senior tour player and admitted to getting leggy after four rounds at The Players. Lowry has been hit and miss for months and for the remaining three picks are you taking Peres, MacIntyre or Migliozzi who have no experience or are oyu taking Poulter, Garcia and Rose who might have one or two good rounds a tournament but the the other two inevitably head backwards.

Yet when you dress them all in the same clothing.......They become the greatest putters in the world. All mentioned play in the US regularly so it a home game for Europe every RC. Some have more fans here than across the pond.
