GG canceled my order, I called AFTER I got the cancellation to confirm that it wasn’t just because they didn’t have it sitting in the warehouse and the guy said they weren’t getting anymore of these. Whether he knew what he was talking about or not I don’t know but I could almost hear his eyes roll when he realized what my order was for. I’m sure I’m not the first call he’s had about these putters.

This is what I was expecting. Ridiculous that it took them this long to realize they screwed up with these pre-orders.

Picked up my 34" Newport 2 last night that my local store was able to secure for me.  What a great looking putter!  Then again, I'm a sucker for the red, white and blue.  It will likely be going to the course with me before the week is out.  Still hoping 2nd Swing gets me a Newport like they said they were swapping in for my pre-order.  But in the event that gets cancelled, I'll at least have one.

Anyone actually had their Golf Galaxy preorder SHIP?

I was originally told “within a week” when I inquired a few days after release.  Then when that passed I was told not to worry and that there was a delay from the Scotty/Titleist fulfillment centers due to COVID and it would be shipping soon.  Now I was told yesterday morning by an escalations team member that they were working with the “Scotty Cameron Buyer Team” and that I’d have an update shortly.

Seems we’re all SOL but can’t figure why some have gotten cancellation emails and others haven’t.

GG guy told me today if the order is “processing” they are likely already secured and are shipping 8/25. Again we won’t know for sure until then.

I’d like to believe that, but mine has said “in process” since I placed the order on 7/20.  Seems none of them have an actual answer and are just relying on generic order status definitions or trying to end the call/chat with boilerplate answers.  Still holding out hope but it’s not looking great unfortunately.

For those who are gaming these what’s your impression so far. I’m 2 rounds in and feel is incredible for me.

I'm two rounds in as well and the feel is fantastic. And I made a lot of putts, so it's not just for show.

I've tried lots of putters over the years but this might be first real challenger to my old standby Scotty. Need to give it a few more rounds to see if I can get speed down a bit better on longer putts, but this is one dumb purchase I'm not regretting so far.

I’m one round in and concur 100% - fantastic feel. Soft, solid, crisp.

I finally spoke with someone higher up the chain that was able to confirm with me that they oversold these. Scotty Cameron gave them a number they could sell, but didn't provide that many putters once they were sold. What he couldn't tell me is how they picked which putters to cancel. Because I had to be near the front of the orders placed. I still feel like if I wouldn't have called, I'd be getting my shipping notification as well. Oh well, I don't see how the Newport 2 was going to kick the CC Newport out of the bag. I'm absolutely loving that thing. Congrats to those who got shipping notifications.

They're still going through orders it seems.  Got Dicks shipping 45 minutes ago.

After being told by customer service that they were out of stock and not getting anymore of these on Monday, they listed the Newport, Newport 2 and flow back yesterday morning on DSG. I ordered a Newport 2 and got shipping notification this afternoon. What an adventure this limited release has been.

I just got my shipping notification from my 7/20 pre order. I’m glad it’s coming but the lack of communication from Dick’s/GG will give me pause the next time I go looking for sticks

Has anyone gotten a number on how many they produce?

Why wouldn’t they make enough so they sell every last one at $600.  Retailers happy. Titleist happy. Consumers are happy. Win win win.  Who’s not happy?  People who bought them to flip. But who cares? F$&@ them!

Why should Scotty care about preserving the value for people that bought for investment. If he really wants to make a collectible putter all he needs to do is take a piece of metal and stamp a T on it. Or just offer it up to his club members who show some sort of loyalty. Why make a limited release to benefit flippers who wait on line at dicks. Doesn’t make any sense.

I wouldn’t be surprised if these won’t be as scarce as the flippers would have you believe.

Just curious — what time did you order? And from what time zone?

First 9 in the books with my Newport 2 tonight.  Let the record show that it rolled in its first birdie putt on the 4th hole.  Speed control was excellent all night.  The feel was certainly different than my 2020 Newport.  Softer for sure.  I will take it out again this weekend.

Sell the 2020....

I don't sell any Scotties.  Certainly not that one.  Best putter he has made in a few years.  Well, until the CC came out.  Plus I need one to travel with.  Not sure I trust the airlines with one I can't easily replace.

Yeah i get you on the airline talk.. good idea. I have the 2018 scotty np2 love it... wife just got me a 21 queen bee for aniversary and it is honestly great...really top of the line putter that rivals anything... but just like you i cant see dumping the scotty either.

Got a 34” Newport cc to replace my 34” Newport 2020 special select

at first I was expecting the cc to be softer and buttery but was disappointed Bc it seemed pretty firm and clicky, only perfect strikes seemed soft (all carpet putting)

and then woah I go on the course and it’s perfect, the roll is great, speed seemed more consistent than special select and now when I pick up the 2020 special select it feels like complete mush, so soft.

did I just not realize that the single piece special select was just way too soft all along? anyone else feel this way

loving the champions choice in the short time I’ve had to play with it

It's amazing how much different a putter can feel/sound outside versus indoors. I've had this situation happen multiple times. It goes both ways, I've also had putters that I loved on my Birdieball mat. Then proceeded to take them outside and hate them. I'm a putter ho, and own way too many, but I've learned to never make a decision on a putter until I've had it outdoors.

Agree

not sure why it doesn't roll the same on the inside mat, but I totally agree with this.

It's how he markets the brand - people want what they can't have - look at the brands he emulates - Bentley, Tiffany & Co, Rolex etc..
