Yes the Newport is much more close to the 009 with a flat topline and bumpers and shoulders that are similar to the 009. The old BBs had the high toe, which many didn't care for. The new NP2 is also a much better shape IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not above flipping something for a profit but dern the flippers and gougers are getting out of hand.

 

Like others have said, this is my holy grail/white whale putter. It's made to be gamed and 100000% going in the bag, permanently.

I despise the fact that this platform enables a market for price gougers when many people want this putter to game it. I don't want to contribute to the sustainability of that market although it's a wash in terms of pricing. I originally reserved a NP2 but something shady took place. This was a "make it right" type of deal from the store manager.

When you can’t get one due to various reasons and your only option is buy one on a flip market.. it is what it is. I have no choice anymore but to buy my Newport on the flip.

I had a Newport coming until the pro (PGA of America) flipped it himself for $1100. Not  ethical in my opinion for a pro.

I had one reserved and was putting in my shipping info when I get a call from the guy saying there was a  price change and I needed to pay $685, for most thats not a lot but I make $14 an hour and shipping brought it over $700 so I had to give it up.

I get being upset with flippers but most people are upset they didn’t get one to flip themselves. It is what it is I’ve missed out on more than my fair share of items I was lucky enough to snag some this go around and I’ll take full advantage of it.

Be a little patient and wait a few weeks and you won’t have to pay twice the price on release day. I heard they made between 5-6k of these things worldwide. They aren’t super rare. My guess is they are going for 800 in not too long.

I deserve that. 😆 I still think the price on these will come down fast. To me, they’re beyond ugly - the Merica stripes and huge Champion font on the bottom ruin it. If it was just a new button back I’d be excited. They did a lot better with the T22.

I will never get in the way of someone who has an in demand product and charges whatever the market will bear.  That's just the way it is, more power to the seller.  It sure beats being on the flip side and sitting on inventory no one wants!

 

And yes, I love 'merica too...it doesn't mean I want all that noise on my putter.  You are so right...just release the button back as it was, and make it part of the regular releases...a ton of them will sell!

Im tired of people buying stuff just to flip it around for more money... the jokes on them. Not many ppl are willing to pay the stupid upcharge so they get stuck looking like idiots. Not everything is ment to be flipped geez.

Anything that is a “drop” or “limited” release is pretty much meant to get flipped. They know what they’re doing. If the button back was just their 2022 line you wouldn’t be seeing this.

I never gamed either of the originals (Tei3 or Button Back) but I think this Button Back feels better than any OTR Scotty that I’ve used since 2008 and better than the T22.

It appears everyone who has one loves it and the ones that weren't so lucky think it's awful. Even if the bottom is noisy I can't remember the bottom of a putter giving me issues looking over the ball. The top, back, and face are all clean to me.

Just picked up my 34” CC Newport at Roger Dunn. 1000% sure I asked for a NP2, which sucks, but guessing I will not get much sympathy from anyone on here LOL. Frustrating they allocated these with a hand-written list though.
 

Planned on gaming it as a NP2. Now we shall see.

Not exactly... its limited because its a special release scotty cameron is offering at not much more then the standard offerings... $600 vs $400... if i was in the market for a scotty i might say.. you know what for $200 more why not get the special edition and then use it or keep it... instead you have people who arent going to use or keep it buying them up and doubling and trippling the price $1200 plus dollars. Thats called being a word not allowed imo.  If you bought it and never used it and kept it 3plus years and then decided to sell at the same or a bit of higher price i understand but to buy it and soon as its in your possession put it for sale for double is terrible. Same thing with the gameing system market. Everyone bought them up and stuck them at $1000 but now they are all stuck with the systems.
