Does that sticker on the 13.5 crown say lie angle is 59.1?
My eyes are bad…

Isn’t the spec standard lie at std loft supposed to be closer to 56? Would this be normal for tour issue to be more upright?

It’s definitely normal for them to have lie angles that skew away from standard. But the truth is retail heads will vary  widely from the stated standard too.  In loft and lie.

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. Was just surprised that much. In the world I work, tolerances beyond .030 are considered extreme so I have a hard time wrapping my head around 3.0. 🙂

I’m glad I didn’t preorder it, because I didn’t hit it any farther than my 3 wood. I hit the 13.5 (opened to 11.5) with my Graphite Design Tour ADDJ8x three wood shaft at 42.5”. I couldn’t get the spin under 4000rpm off the deck, and 3500 off a tee. I hit my SIM @14.25 farther and with less spin. Saved myself a bunch of cash.

Someone more knowledgeable may have a better answer, but the whole TM lie angle thing has always been weird in that I have NEVER seen a TM driver measure anywhere near 56*. The flattest you will normally see is mid 58* and a vast majority are 59* - 61*. Whether this is due to a difference in how things are measured or merely outdated/incorrect info for their "standards" I am not sure, but I have never seen a TM driver measure in the 57* range, let alone 56*.

I really appreciate that insight. I’ve been in Titleist stuff for a long time but going to try the 300 mini now. First TM club in the bag, trying to get it set up to match current 3W close as I can for straight up compare if the bigger head suits me.

Yep. My world deals in near exacts as well. Which makes it frustrating at times.  I’ve owned multiples of the same club many times and loved one head and absolutely hated the other.  Current example I have is the sim hybrid I play.  First one was heavy feeling and upright. This one feels correct snd is flatter lie angle.

I have the 13.5, set a little open at about 12.5, with a Ventus Blue 7x and it destroys 3 wood for me. Obviously, it's less nimble off the deck, but I'm just 4-5 MPH ball speed lower with this than driver. I can't believe anyone would hit this less far than 3 wood off the tee. It's very hot.

And it's one of the best sounding and feeling clubs I've ever hit. You just want to smash it all day long. But make sure you've got the right shaft because the stock shaft is a noodle.

Man, that's wild. I couldn't get my spin to even reach 2000. I was 1800rpm off the tee. It's too low spinning for me. Played the 11.5º set standard, with a driver length shaft in it. Was carrying 280, rolling out 300+. Much further than both my driver and 3 wood.

If they can get the MOI of a driver in a compact head I would pick one up. Is there any info on this?

A 300CC head design is not about MOI. The compact head is about promoting more quality-square-strikes than one produces with a 460CC MOI club. For more good strikes go 300CC. For better results from mishit shots go 460CC.

It's very intentionally a "tweener" club.

Driver is more forgiving than mini, which is more forgiving than fairway wood.

Driver is longer than mini, which is longer than fairway wood.

Driver is harder to make center contact than mini, which is harder to make center contact than fairway wood.

Driver is larger and lighter than mini, which is larger and lighter than fairway wood

Etc. Etc.

There is no mystery here. The club fits where it's supposed to fit and does what it's supposed to do. So the only question is whether it fits your game/bag or not. If it does, this particular version is, in my testing, is a standout. I have owned or tested the Ping Rapture, the SLDR Mini and the Original One. This is the best of the best, with O.O. a not-too-distant second.

I favor naming the club TM 307 because "mini Driver" infers it is less than a real driver.

UPDATE: I did just order one and I’m pretty stoked…i just joined a new club and there’s soooo many holes where it’s less than driver off the tee there due to trouble or rough in driver landing area. Love my 3w off the deck so it’s staying in the bag as I don’t expect to hit the MD as well off the deck. But of course will test to find out for sure.

So I guess the 5i is coming out as that club is gathering dust in the bag right now. I just never have occasion to hit it (unless I’m waaaay out of position or hit a bad shot and have to hit the next with a 5i). Would rather choke down a 4h.

Anyways, Will report back once I get it out for a few rounds.
