I think everyone is going to be happy with a couple added loft/grind options provided with the MG3. Will also come in black.

I believe the dots are tour heads vs retail, one dot = retail, two dots  = tour. They are the same heads but the tour ones go through their extra QC steps make sure head weights are tight, grooves are at spec etc

Wow, those look amazing and will definitely be going into my bag as soon as they become available! I've game the original MG's, went with a different combo of loft/ bounce in the MG2's so these are must have.

I'm sorta "in the tank for TM" but don't see why people get all geeked about a cast Vokey when these forged beauties are about the same price and offer all of the same loft/ bounce/ grind combos??? :idhitit:

None of the MG wedges have been forged. If any of them were, including these MG3, you'd see "FORGED" on the head and it would be a marketing bullet point.

Ooooooh, straight-ish leading edge.

Eh, after looking at it, its pretty straight, but not as straight as it could be.

was the first thing i noticed, that and a rather extreme triangular look. not my cup of tea. the finish is nice I guess, and TM's sole milling is super classy looking

The MG Wedges are forged from 8620 carbon steel and utilize a new groove design that feature steeper sidewalls to increase launch and spin. These narrower grooves also allow for one more to be added to the face.

The MG2 TW wedges are "cast"....

Watch at 0.23 mark when he says "Like the standard MG2 edition the TW edition is cast"

A quick search shows that your exact text is only found on this site: https://tdcustomgolf.com/taylormade-milled-grind-wedges-now-available-for-fitting/. Not exactly evidence I'd hold up.

They are not forged, nor has TaylorMade ever made a claim that the MG wedges are forged in any of their marketing copy. Again, if this were the case, it would be an advertised loudly, not something you see on an unknown website.

Also, very few clubs are forged from 8620. That alloy is almost always used for cast processes when it comes to golf club manufacturing.

The MG2 were pretty nice and that straighter leading edge was appealing to me but these are much nicer and definitely #1 or 2 option now.

For me it just looks better than a rounded leading edge. Rounded ones look weird to me in the heel area where it has to come in from the hosel and then back out. As far as performance, I don’t know the difference between the two. Maybe a rounded one keeps the leading edge more square to the ball when you open the face? Rarely do I meet someone that doesn’t like a straight edge.

yea. I started a discussion about this exact topic related to the zipcore wedges. I saw it mentioned that they were forged on a golf review website. Or more specifically, one of their marketing guys mentioned the word “forged”. The consensus is that one step in the process can he called a forging step, but they are forged in the typically though of sense like a Mizuno iron. Plus, I don’t think they’d put the silicone-ish dampening insert from the MG2 on a forged product.

Are TM getting rid of the rusty face? I've never liked how rusty wedges carve up my golf balls. Would be keen if they did a 'normal' face.

From TM themselves...rust had no effect in carving up your golf balls.

Quote

Tour players have long preferred raw wedges. When our team brought them chrome or PVD plated wedges to test, their feedback was often the same. They felt as if the ball was sliding up the face, particularly in wet conditions seen during morning rounds or inclement weather.

This feedback spurred our engineers to dive into the performance benefits of raw to better understand how and why the material impacted short game shots. Initial testing showed that in dry conditions raw marginally impacted spin and launch, and, ultimately, the results were very similar when pitted against a chrome-plated wedge. However, when testers added water to the equation, the variance in performance was staggering.

With chrome wedges, the data showed an approximate 50% reduction in spin on wet shots. With raw, there was only about a 25% reduction – showcasing a significant improvement.

In addition, testing showed that chrome-plated wedge shots could experience a 6°-8° increase in launch going from dry to wet, while a raw face would only result in a 2°-3° increase.

“Through these series of early tests, we were essentially able to validate what Tour professionals could feel,” says Product Development Engineer Paul Demkowski. “We knew that raw wedges perform better in wet conditions.”

The pics of the faces do not look like that MG2, ie Raw, so I suspect that may be gone.

If you play shots with an open face, and to some degree even with just raised or lowered hands, a straighter leading edge that is not pointing to your target can be tough to look at while a rounder leading edge can look more neutral. That’s why I personally prefer a rounder leading edge on my sand and lob wedges.

I was fitted into the MG3 wedges during a full bag fitting at the Kingdom in early July. I went with the P770s 4-PW, and not that I've ever given any right to golf clubs and design language, but these wedges have the same modern swoopy aesthetic that the P770s have. Excited for them to come!

Niice, I play 770’s and 7MC so that ‘style’ works for me.
Do you know if they were raw face only?
