Real or fake Scotty Cameron

Trading my putter with a random guy and wanted to know if this Scotty is legit.

 

The guy was only selling it for $200 USD. And I thought they went for way more. Then when I asked him where he got it he said he has no idea - was his dads. But assured me right away it is legit. 

I’ve just heard so much about fake Scottys that I thought I should ask wrx.

Looks real to me. Big indicator is the vertical mill lines coming off the top corners of the milled pocket in the back. Once you get it in hand, if you look closely in that milled out pocket you'll see artifact lines from the milling process. I bought my studio select Newport 2 midslant for $250 CAD, so not too far off in value.

 

Some people just want things gone and don't care about getting the most value out of it. Yesterday I traded a golo 5 select for a special select 2.5 that had never seen the course, guy said he likes mallets and didn't want to mess around trying to sell and just straight up traded.

Or it’s the guy selling/trading it to me. Or another guy with the same pics sent to him. Both seem like plausible explanations for why the same putter/picture has been posted before. But yeah cool man thanks for the help

Had a customer try to trade in a similar putter recently, just that he had it cut down for his son. The length was barely 28" A variety of red flags, such as why would he cut a Scotty down that much some some paint issues, but considering this model is milled from 303 Stainless steel, a simple magnet test is all you should need. In this case, his putter failed the test immediately. Took a similar legit Scotty off the used shelf and showed him the difference. End of story.

MGS did a comparison between the fake scotty and the real one and the fake won. I'm sure Titleist was thrilled about that.....

This is why I'm looking for a fake lefty. The fakes are on Wish for under $100, I'd be so down with a free fake Scotty, but nobody makes fake lefties, dammit

Hopefully nobody flames me but I bought a fake and it came looking amazing. Even came in scotty cameron plastic bag and a scotty headcover. To this day nobody has ever spotted it as fake. It rolls great and feels solid so I can understand why it tested well on MGS.
