Comparring Ping G410 or G425 irons to PXG Gen 2 irons

I recently purchased a set of PXG Gen 2 irons. I am approaching the 30 day return deadline and I'm not sure If I want to keep them. A few months ago I demo'd both the Ping G410 and G425 irons and found both sets to be very nice. I'm going to try a head to head demo between the PXG Gen 2 and both Ping sets in a couple of days. If anyone has hit these sets and could give some input, I would appreciate it. I understand that everyone is different but some general thoughts would be helpful.

I've played all of them and my fave are the PXG's.  Whatever they're doing they got the feel done right.   Best performing irons I've ever played.

The PING G425 irons have been the best set of irons I have hit. After testing the PXG line of clubs using trackman analysis, it became evident that the pings were better for dispersion, feel and distance.

The PINGs also look far better that the rather ugly and utilitarian appearance of the PXG’s.

Not that it is a major consideration, but your future resell value will be greater with The PINGS.

PXG adherents really like their clubs. I've never hit them because I think they are ugly and I dislike Bob Parsons' TV ads. But, I think the clubs perform well.
I recently acquired a set of G410s.

Holy moly!  They look better at address than past Ping G series irons but more importantly, and true to their roots, they are literally point and shoot.  For me, they are plenty long, plenty high, and dead straight.  I have the stock shaft AWT 2.0 shaft in them.  I like this shaft a lot better than the older stock CFS shaft.

The top line appears of moderate width. The offset was not a factor for me at all.

The only complaint I had was that at stock, their swingweight was pretty light. I think D0 in most of the irons and ascending to D1.5 or so in the wedges. I bought them off the rack due to Covid delays. I wanted them a little longer anyway so I extended the shafts a bit and I got the swingweight up 1.5 points or so and that was better for me. (Or I could've just used lead tape.)

So you can judge my comments, my handicap is 9 and my swingspeed is about 100 mph with a driver. So, mid handicap territory.

Really good irons.

I can't comment on the G425s because I haven't seen them. The golf stores around me are like grocery stores in a famine. The shelves are picked clean.

I am assuming the OP is comparing the Ping G410 and 425 to the PXG 0211.  I have the original gen 0211 and have hit the G410.  The feel of the 0211 is MUCH softer than the G410 which I found to be clicky.  Also, while both are rated as in the Game Improvement category, the 0211 are closer to the Players category (if on a spectrum).

I have not hit the 425, but visually the clubhead is bigger and clunkier looking than the 0211.

For comparison, the original gen 0211 7 iron head is exactly the same length as the i200.

Long story short, I thing the 410 and 425 will be more forgiving at the expense of size and feel.

As a follow-up, I kept the the PXG 0311P Gen 2 set and added a Gap wedge from the credit I received from PXG because of the further mark-down on my Gen 2 irons.

My first time out as a full owner, I had a 4 foot foot birdie putt on the first hole (missed), a 3 foot birdie putt on the 4th hole (missed), a 6 foot birdie putt on the 4th hole (made it!). I shot a 38 on the front and 42 on the back. We played the gold tees which are 6,600 yards. I liked the PXG  irons. I'm a club shorter than my Titleist C16 irons bot the lofts are a few degrees stronger than the PXG's.

The Gen 2 are the worst feeling irons PXG has made IMO

I did forget to mention: I have the PXG Gen 2 Players model

I have the 0311P Gen 2 and they are more similar in size and shape to i200/210’s. Same width sole and toe height. The PXG blade length the way I measure is like 1/8” longer than the pings.  The 0311XF Gen 2 is closer is size to the G410/425

How easy to hit are the XFs? This would be a set for someone brand new to golf. The SGI are sold out it looks like.

The SGI’s which I owned might be the largest head I’ve come across on an iron set. And that’s from somebody who gamed Cleveland Altitude and cobra T rail hybrid irons.  The Gen 2 XF’s are plenty large for someone new to the game. Owned those also. Right now currently messing with the Gen 2 0311P but then again I play to around an 81-82 average.
