Mizuno ST G driver - 2021 3M Open

Recommended Posts

That is the perfect shape.  Not a thing wrong with that look imo.  Good job Mizuno.  I know I just got the SiM2 Max but this is making me rethink my decision.

I could not figure what the "High" in the rear was - but this little YouTube solved it...it's a weight slot - WOW.

May have to take a serious look at this for sure

That is literally the only other driver I would like to try besides my Tsi2.

I thought my driver was all set but, man, I gotta try this one.

You mentioned you hit it in the MP 22 thread. Are you allowed/willing to share your experience?

Can't say anything about the tech but I can thank THP and Mizuno for a great experience.

But the driver seems a cannon, a pleasing metallic crack, not high pitched with real golf balls (higher pitch with range balls). I play it at 9 degrees in a Red Atmos R flex at 45.25 inches as I have a meager swing speed - about 93-95 at best right now.

It took time to get it adjusted because you have so many options. I hit some excellent drives on the course but still thought it was not set for me. Today at the range, I adjusted the weights better to fit me.  I think people will enjoy this driver. Sound is good, looks great at address to me, has excellent speed, deep face, lower spin, and forgiveness.

I will probably reshaft/fit to see if I can get more out of it.

The higher speed guys were hammering it.

How would it compare to the ST-Z in forgiveness and distance?

I play the Epic Speed; haven't tried the ST-Z. I need to get on Trackman and get fit for the shaft before I offer a better evaluation. But I like the ST-G220. The shape says forgiveness; the depth of the head says low spin. At the same time with the right shaft, I have no problem getting a 9 degree in mid to high in flight.

One of our higher speed guys at THP-Mizuno Experience played the ST-X and seems to like the ST-G220 a lot.

Shape looks great, but how does it sit on the ground at address?  Prior versions always sat awkwardly to me (way too open, felt like you had to manipulate it into position), whereas the TSI3 for me site perfectly.

Are those 11g weights in there or just alignment marks?

Hello - Has anyone compared this to the STZ?  Was torn between the STZ and the G425 LST.  Now this is in the mix...

The st-z will stop be more forgiving. The G has a slightly smaller looking profile from the top and a slightly deeper face. Way lower spin and I have found able to produce better ball speeds. But the Z is much more Everyman.

How many RPMs are we roughly talking between the STZ 9.5 and STG 9 with the weights forward? I think it was like 500 RPM between the two in the previous generation.

I noticed this too. I really love the look of the ST-Z, however I was amazed at how open it sat. I compared it directly with the ZX-5 which was much more neutral.
