Bushnell Launch Pro Device with Foresight

No difference for this application at least. The most important thing is getting a "gaming" laptop with an Intel CPU since their site says they don't support AMD for whatever reason. You're right a laptop would be more expensive, but portable with less performance than a similarly priced desktop mainly due to cooling. To be honest to run these golf sim software applications it wont matter so long as you get a decent one in ~1k+ range. I opted for Lenovo Legion 5 Pro with Intel i7 and RTX 3060 graphics card for this purpose. I wanted a laptop as my sim will be in my garage and I dont want to keep a PC in that environment 24/7, plus I can play other games in my house. That is likely overkill for this, but any "gaming" laptop with like an i5 or i7 (preferred) and modern dedicated graphics card will likely work. If you find something and want to run it by me feel free to post here or DM me and I will take a look if you'd like.

@brentflog since he asked a similar question.

I may need to DM as I am using in my garage as well.

I feel like at this point you either are gonna buy it or you're not. All the pertinent info is out there now.

Not sure why people are surprised that a publicly traded company is trying to make as much money possible.

And to all the hate aimed towards FSX, there is no doubt more money will be poured into it's development after being acquired by a company worth a few billion dollars.

If the software is what is holding you back I'd at least withhold judgement until FSX Fit and FSX Compete and Play are released next month.

What I'm really confused and now annoyed is that we were basically told full club data if we purchase the full BLP gold or GC3 $7K.

If the standalone GC3 provides club data I will be super pissed. I have no doubt that the new FSX will be worth it but it would have been nice to get a glimpse of it first then decide if I would like to purchase it.

I fully expect the GC3 will have all club data available on the touch screen but since they have coupled it to the software you’re into it for $7k. Is upfront hardware costs and sub software not enough of a money maker? Maybe its coming eventually.

I think your initial post said it mattered for a plus handicap. My main point is it matters way before a plus handicap (I’d argue it matters at all skill levels).

A push draw on the target line vs a pull draw even 15 yards left of the flag is a tap in birdie vs missing the green on many courses. I’m not saying any launch monitor is perfect but I found SkyTrak HLA off enough it was giving me bad data in my opinion. My Mevo+ reads zero when I launch it straight every time. Now Mevo+ has its issues with spin axis on short ball flight also so I’m aware it’s not the most accurate in other areas (I wouldn’t be shopping for an upgrade if either we’re “close enough” for me).

My gripe is the general statement “it’s close enough for average golfers” which I disagree with. I know you’re not referencing the R10 but people saying getting the curve the wrong direction is ok at the price point for “an average golfer” blows my mind. How does one learn from something telling them the wrong outcome at any level.

To be fair, I said low single digit cap.  Which you are moving towards it sounds like.   I know most of your shots are not flying 15 yards off the target line regardless of the data you are getting on shots into the green.  That shot would be a mishit for you, I don't think that is a mechanical issue in your swing.  You also have to use the data properly

An average golfer (16 cap) would absolutely benefit from a Skytrak.  Just knowing your actual distances is a massive factor in improving your scores, not to mention the amount of extra practice that goes along with owning one of these devices.  And I think the Skytrak is confirmed to be very accurate in the carry distances, many tests have shown it to be within 2-3% of a GC4 accuracy in the regard.

And I will use my own experiences here regarding shot shape.  I have never taken a lesson in my life, I have also never hit a draw in my life.  I learned to control my slice and turn that into a very reliable fade which cost me 30 yards on every tee box.  No worries, my short game is pretty good and my putting is excellent, I can scramble well.  I watched the Rick Shiels fix your slice video, and I took my driver to my hitting area with my skytrak and I was drawing the ball within 2 shots.  Took another 20-30 shots and I must have hit 90% draws.  Went to the course the next day, shot a +3 and hit draws with every club all day, I missed a 6' putt on the 18th for birdie which would have made this my best round ever.  So if something like a Skytrak can do that for me, why wouldn't it help a worse golfer?  It will give you a correct general shot shape most of the time.

If you are hitting your shots 4-5 yards of center and are looking for something more accurate, you are not an average golfer and will need to spend the $7k to get all of the data that comes with the GC3, you won't be able to spend the $3k and use the LP without the $800 yearly sub, its as simple as that.

I agree, but with this pricing they are inviting competition from Skytrak and a bunch of others. People buying from competitors is not fulfilling this goal. Assuming the ST2 is competent this current pricing cannot persist. It only needs modest improvements from ST etc to give the gc3 a real problem...

As of now I think I’m going to get the Launch Pro with gold license. I like the idea of the fully unlocked gc3. However, considering how fast the personal launch monitor space has changed in the last 2 years I’m curious to see what the next 2-3 brings. It’s a bit of a gamble in that something better will come along n 3-4 years, but I think I’m going to take that bet. It is entirely possible I change my mind and get the gc3 though.

My GC3 invoice was $5k for hardware, and $2k for software, so I think it’s kinda meaningless. Think they just charging $7k for the setup regardless.

It's been my experience from Foresight that they charge sales taxes for hardware, but they don't for software/firmware modules.

For example, I wasn't charged sales taxes when I got the putting module for my GCQ (firmware module) or when I upgraded my software license (1k).  Both those transactions happened independently of the initial LM purchase.

If that is still the case, and you're in a sales tax state, it could make a significant difference how they "breakout" the costs of hardware/software on the invoice.

YMMV

Overall a impressive piece of hardware but . . . Not the software

The TGC2019 sim golf community is massive and for reason!

To release this with the pathetic software is a massive error and won’t sway people who are happy with Skytrak and TGC2019 for sim golf. Not talking fitters and the likes here.

With a new Skytrak device in the works (patents approved google it) I think their will be lots who will hold out for that.

I repeat again to release a product with a graphics software engine that is years and years behind the competition is astounding. How can you have a product that only works with Nvidia ? Seriously ?

I do see in the next 6-18 months more LM’s coming to market so it’s going to sure get interesting.

The new software comes out in October. TGC2019 was not officially supported on the QC Quad and people got it to work. TCG2019 wont be officially supported with the GC3 either but I am confident they will get it to work shortly after release.

I was working my way towards ordering the GC3.  A little more than I wanted to spend, but....  I became even more hesitant that I couldn't return the unit.  It was mine unless there was an issue.

I am still contemplating, but I have purchased many $500 launch monitors and haven't been happy with any of them.  I've returned quite a few for various reasons.  I know that this is a much different unit, different technology, but it's still $7k.  I was hoping that if I had issues or just didn't like it I could just put it in a box and send it back.  That's not the case.

That won't be the case in some countries. That'd be illegal.

Got to finally order my GC3 today. So excited. Upgraded from a GC2 so not expecting a huge difference, just some QOL stuff and a newer device. Also anyone on the fence of BLP or M+ or ST, go with foresight. They are not even comparable IMO. Foresight cost more because they are far superior. Their accuracy is second to none, there is reason 90% of PGA pros use Foresight. ST and M+ are good but have to many misreads and if you have even an above average swing speed they are useless. We will get more and more club data from this unit with future upgrades and the GC3 cannot be improved much more than it already is. People complain about their software but I've come to like it. They will also be upgrading it soon so I'm tired of see those complaints. Please.learn from me and get one of these units. They have vastly improved my game and regret nothing. Hope this helps someone on the fence. Just remember you get what you pay for.

And they're sold out already.  Wow.  Not sure how many units they had available.  But, appears there is quite the demand for them initially.  Was available for about 5 minutes.
