After experimentation and reading I think the answer is it depends. Are you happy with running “balanced” or “performance” settings. Or do you really need to see the water move and the grass blow in the wind (full graphics)? You happy with 1080p at full graphic settings or want to splurge for 4K (no idea how to get a 4K graphics card with all the demand). I went a little over bare min with the 1660ti and wasn’t happy running balanced settings. I want to run 1080p with the most detail possible and the minimum specs didn’t cut it for me.

The 1660ti benchmark is almost double the 1050ti so if you’re not happy with it at 1080p the experience with a 1050ti must be pretty bad.  I have a 3060 in a prebuilt patiently waiting for my GC3 so I’m interested to hear how you get along with the one you ordered.

Ill update once I get it swapped out. I will say on Teton Pines it does perfect on full graphic setting but on Pebble beach it performs much worse. Maybe that course is just more demanding to process??

Anyone having issues with the driver readings (GC3 on the unit)? Getting nothing on club data (moved the dot around to test) and the ball data reads like a 5w. Using a BirTee. All the iron and 3w (even off a low tee) numbers make sense so wondering if it’s the larger tee? FWIW been scratch for 20+ years so pretty confident in my real life numbers, I.e. driver launches lower, spins less and goes further than my 3w. Thoughts?

Try hitting from the rear section of the hitting area. I’ve heard people had trouble when using the forward-most section of the hitting zone with driver. Especially club data. I haven’t heard it has ball data like a 5w tho. The person with prior issue was just not getting club data and foresight asked him to try moving the ball back a bit and that fixed it

I had seen someone saying that the driver works better if it is as far to the right as possible in the hitting area, if you are a righty

That was a tough watch…lol.  Lost me at “I like to see a lot of side spin on my wedges, always want to draw your wedges”.

Yeah, was it me or did his wedges hit the screen about 5 feet to the right and somehow would up being on target and that was one ugly swing, he must be related to Furyk or Wolff lol

Ya it may have been the camera angle a little but I don’t think his room dimensions were right in the settings or something because the shots should start roughly where it hits the screen.

When I was retooling my swing last winter I did a ton of freezer drills and started to have a hard time taking the pause back out…just gave me flashbacks.  😂

Does anyone know how far the hitting zone is from the GC3 unit ? And how much forward of the ball is the LM?  Is there a diagram of those measurements by chance ?

also trying to decide between mats any feedback on the player preferred fiberbuilt mat? Very little reviews on these as they are new ish

It’s about 1 foot from

the unit and it’s not in front, it’s behind the unit where the zone is. The zone is 8” x 12” I think

I have been researching mats nonstop for the last week. It seems like it's really between Country Club Elite and fiber built. Fiber built gives you a little less penalty for fat shots as the ball sits up higher but Country Club Elite seems to be the closest to real life feel from the fairway. The problem with Country Club Elite which everyone points out though is that it is very very harsh on your joints if you hit fat. It grabs the club drastically on steep swings and can lead to some minor injuries for people using it a lot. It seems to be more preferable to people with a shallow swing versus people with a steep swing.  For me I'm still leaning going towards it since my goal is improvement and the biggest issue with my swing is being steep so this may force me to fix that. I have been looking at the rain or shine swing turf mat which is supposed to be between the two but haven't found alot of reviews outside their site. The reviews in their site are great.

Got the hourglass, really like it. Tried the flight deck but too small for the kids. Fiberbuilt has a 4x7 one with a 2 inch strip for the LM, woulda been perfect for gc3

Doesn’t matter where it hits the screen! Man are you guys new to this stuff?

I watch my fair share of golf videos on YouTube and the algorithm has never fed me Shawn Clement.  I’m 39 years old.  It kind of matters where it hits the screen as that is a feature of FSX software and foresight hardware.  You can set up your room dimensions and the software will simulate where and when it hits the screen and the ball takes off from there.  I’m sure he’s a knowledgeable fitter as he said he was awarded but I’m not sure I’m taking swing advice from someone who says you want a ton of side spin on your wedges and that you should always draw a wedge but hey different strokes for different folks I guess.

Right, I have watched golf vids for the past 4 years and never seen this guy. And yes, foresight software picks up from where it hits the screen as GSV mentioned in the review video. This guy is trying to flex on people without even knowing what he’s taking about.

Crazy, he has over 150k subscribers and has probably been on YT for over 15 years. He doesn’t say you should draw irons and have side spin. He says that’s what he likes to see with his shots.

The GC3 has no idea where it hits on the screen, it’s just looking at the ball. It has to be calibrated to do so accurately. He probably just plunked it down. If you feel where the shots hitting on the screen weren’t accurate to actual shots, that would be the reason.
