Best Bridgestone irons?

I agree J38 cb was one of the best irons I ever hit. I had a great run with those for several years. Ball flight off those heads was perfect

I needed irons and found the J15 CBs for a great price. I was looking for conforming grooves to play in a couple of Amateur events around the DFW TX area to not hear anyone whine about it. Seems like the J15s were pretty solid according to many previous posts and threads, soles that I'd like since I tend to be steep and decently soft.

Getting them in the mail today so I'm happy, I'll sling some lead tape on the toes if need be to get a little extra help or whatever. I can't crawl down that Club whore hole again like the early days. haha.

Appreciate the responses from everyone.

Any J15 cb users care to share insight on the forgiveness of the 4 iron?

equivalent to current zx7? zx5?

TIA

The only thing I can compare it to is jpx 919 forged 4i. My miss is toe side and say they're very close in my mind. I like the sole relief and see that my divots are not quite as deep with the J15s.

Used RH Bridgestone J40 Forged 5 Iron Single - SteelFiber i80 Regular FlexJ40 Dual Pocket Cavity. Circa 2012 Bridgestone sent me a test quad (5i, 9i in NS Pro950 + 5i, 9i in Dynamic Golf SL).

Solid clubs, but I was short on $$ back then.

J33 combos look sweet

That J40 looks really nice

BUT don't know if they ever made them in LH? I still troll FleaBay to see if any come up- just the usually newer Js and the old TourStage stuff.

Mine aren't going anywhere any time soon except to be refinished eventually.

I find the Bridgestone soles on their CBs very friendly.

J40 CB - one of the best CBS of all time,to me. Will never get rid of these.

J15DF - in the bag for the past 5 years, love the forgiveness packed into a slim profile and the added distance. The 2 piece forged design produces a different sound, which turns off some, but they feel great to me. I enjoy seeing the comments on this thread of others who enjoy this model, I don't think it was much of a retail success, a true sleeper in the players distance space.

I'm going to be trying the Tour B X CBP this year. Forgiving/GI profile without high offset, combined with my decline in time to play/ practice and ongoing desire to tinker brought me to this experiment.

Haha I wanna love these! Easily my favorite looking set of irons. I have a full set of these and have tried every combo of shafts to try and fall in love with these but don’t love the feel. The j15 CB feels much better, imho. And from this thread, they don’t seem to be getting much love lol if anybody is looking for a set of these, feel free to message me lol

I've never seen them in lefty, but I love the look of them. That's what drew me towards the Haywood's. Such a clean blade.

I don't know if they are the best or not but I pulled out a set of J33s for a couple of rounds at Forest Dunes this last week. I stash them at my rents' place. They have me questioning how much  meaningful advancement has really been made with forged cavity back irons in the last 15 years. Great sticks after all of these years.

So I just picked up a set of J40 DP/CB combo. DP 5–7, CB 8-P with Project X flighted 6.0.

They made the bag. Hit them tonight and everything I’ve been chasing was right there.

Third times a charm. Over the span of a decade, ha.

I will not be letting go of these. This time.

They are my all time favorite Bridgestones.

I know this is an old thread but thought I would give my opinion. I have played J15 MB, J33 CB and J40 DPC irons. All of them are great irons with incredible feel. I still have the J33 CB and J40 DPC irons and have been playing the DPCs for the last 5 rounds. Of the 3 the DPC irons are the stand out set for me. The sole grind on the DPC irons is perfect. They produce perfect shallow divots from almost any lie. Distance control and feel are excellent. You can work them up and down and you can work them left and right but they are some of the straightest irons I have ever played and are very forgiving compared to my other irons. They have very little offset and a nice thin top line. My one complaint is the blade length is longer than I like. I really don’t notice this on the course but you can see it when they are next to another iron.

If I was going to design my perfect iron it would be the J40 DPC with the blade length of the J33 CB or Wilson Staff CB. I would be fine with some tungsten in the toe to keep the MOI up.

included pics of the J33 CB (left) and J40 DPC (right) 7 irons.

I have played several Bridgestone Tourstage irons on and off such as the Z101, J33CB, J40CB, J36PC, X-Blade 701, X-Blade GR C-1 and J15MB.  Except for the J36PC which is a pocket cavity, they all have a similar solid and soft forged feel.

They are all great clubs but I've only kept 2 sets.  J33CBs (3-PW) because I played with them from release to about last year and the X-Blade GR C-1 (5-P) that I am playing now, they are mid sized and are more forgiving which is what I need these days.  IMO, comparable to any new forged CBs in the market today.

I intend to keep these 2 sets forever I hope.

I played j36 pocket cavities for my first non box set of irons. Got them for a steal on ebay, brand new 3-pw somewhere around $300 I believe.

Played those up until 4 years ago. Went through a few sets of irons and landed on a set of tour b x-cb.

I love these irons. Not mushy soft. But feel really good out of the sweet spot.

Very easy to tell where you miss on the face.

Nice pre worn leading edge, and trailing edge relief.

I have both endo forged J33CB and old school MP29 and both feel pillowy smooth off the face. However the hosel hits of Bridgestones are nicer than the MP29.

Controversially take, I have tested the recent Mizunos and I don’t think they feel as good as the old ones and I am talking about the boron or Chormoly forged, just their straight up forged. And the Titleist forged of 620CB and T100 just feel hard.

Tried the J15 DPF set again after a year and it’s so much better feeling and forgiving than the ZX7s (which are great).
