PXG Gen 4 Driver Toe Weighting

If I understand correctly, the port to hold the weight, with the threads etc, weighed a substantial amount.  Therefore, PXG decided that since that port didn't seem to get used often from their experience, they used that extra weight from the threads etc and relocated it making the driver more forgiving.

I have a Gen4 X and bought my son the Proto X.  The weight port on the toe is nice, but I do not miss it on my Gen4.  The Gen 4 head seems smaller heel to toe than the Proto X and a tad deeper face.  I love the all black of the Proto, but I hit the Gen4 a little better.  Of course it has a Ventus Blue vs a Hzrdus Yellow too which makes a difference for me.

I was curious on this as well as my miss is high toe which results in snap hooks.  It seems that by removing the toe port it might make it even more draw biased.  Not sure if the Gen 4 will work for me so I decided to say f%^k it and ordered one last night.

I usually move the weights toward the toe to avoid the lefts, did so with my Tsi3.  I haven't found the Gen4 to be left biased for me.  I recently made a swing change and switched from a fade to a draw off the tee and haven't had an issue with the Gen4 going left on me but it is easy to draw if that makes sense.  At the same time though, we have two holes that demand a fade and will not accept a draw.  The Gen4 is just as easy to cut for me as it is to draw.

I played the Proto+ with a heavy weight in the toe and do not miss it in my Gen4. I play a baby cut with the Gen4 and it does not seem draw bias to me. I like it much better than the Proto for me.

You won't be able to to much fade bias with their removal of the toe weight.

You could get a heavier weight for the front or back and remove the heel weigh completely, but it probably won't have enough of a delta to do much.

If you look at your build sheet for the driver it will tell you what weights are in there.  It was 2.5g for the heel and toe on the x proto.

Going from a Proto+ to a Gen4 X the draw weighting is very noticeable even just set to stock.  I had been playing a fade (with occasional larger fade) with the Proto, but I took the Gen4 to the range and there were only 4 fades (two of which looked like a slight push at best).  Everything else finished to the right (I am a lefty) side of the range.  All that said once I figured out the pattern hitting my target was consistent.

I completely agree with his. I’m a lefty and usually play a fade with a TS2. I almost had to over exaggerate a fade because a standard swing at the ball went a little right of target. Could also be the Diamana shaft.

I am using the exact same Evenflow Riptide I had in the Proto so probably not just the shaft.
