Searching for 3 wood shaft...

ob1soccer

Recommended Posts

Currently have Kiyoshi gold S-04 68 gram high launch, Mid spin shaft in my Callaway Epic 3 wood.

Looking to upgrade to Titleist Tsi  fairway woods

Love the MMT 60s in my current driver, so will demo the MMT 70s in the fairway as well

Scheduled a fitting for new week but was looking for recommendations before hand.

Swing is 105 MPH with my miss as a hook.

Looking for Mid launch and low spin

Can someone explain the difference between Tensei AV raw Blue/ AV Blue/CK Blue?

Anything else would be appreciated, thanks

Mcas tesnei blue line is very confusing. The ck has kevlar in the butt, the av has aluminum vapor weave in the butt. The raw is same just not painted over so you can see the weave. The their is the ck pro blue that has mr70/boron in the tip. The av line has similar materials in only the tx flex i believe. How much does all this matter for you? Likely not much at all. You should be looking at something that has good weight and feel for what you prefer and gives you quality strikes and dispersion.

The blue and red are both really mid launch low spin. They get there in two very different feels tho. Blue feels butt soft/tip stiff, where as red is very stable in butt and mid but has a softer tip. I prefer the feel of the red tipped some.

A lower price option is Grafalloy ProLaunch Platinum. My local builder turned me on to the ProLaunch Blue when I asked him about PX Evenflow Blue. I swing 3/4W around 103-105 and the Blue was too high launch and spin in X flex, but Platinum is perfect. One of those may work for you.

Yes, Ventus Blue Velocore performs that way for me. Mid to mid/high launch with low to low/mid spin. I just got a 7x for my 3 wood and so far so good. I am able to turn it over a little easier if needed, compared to Ad TP that has been in my 3 wood for a few years now.

Maybe a Hzrdus RDX Blue 70 grams. Mid kick but still has a stiff tip section for stability.

I am Learning that I seem to do better with lighter 3w shafts.

my driver ss is 122mph. So you would think that a heavier , lower spinning shaft would work well for me.

I have a atmos black TS 6x shaft in my Mizuno 3w and it is great. Seems to maybe spin a bit more (could be the head) easy to launch and can square it up easy

with the heavier lower spin shafts I seem to get a knuckle ball flight that likes to go left. Had a ventus black 8x in a Ts3 head before and it really likes to go left. Always struggle with 3w.

Not sure if this was a question for me or different poster, but I have a Ventus blue (velocore) 6x driver shaft that I had been using before switching back to my TP. So I (generally) knew what the Blue 7x would play like in a 3 wood. My driver swing speed is around 112 and was playing Blue 6x at 45” no tipping, went with 0.5” tipping on the 7x in 3 wood at 42.75”. I wouldn’t say I’m always an X flex guy, I just know the Ventus blue profile. Has a lot of feel to it but is stable at same time.

Ventus Blue (velocore) 7s would be a good one to try, as well as Red 7s.
The MRC cluster-f*ck will require some research, all those blue profiles after the Tensei Pro Blue can be tricky.  The regular CK Blue is a much softer profile and was a stock shaft in numerous drivers. AV Raw Blue, and AV Blue have the higher end materials (boron tip, carbon/kevlar weave through entire butt section, etc) only in the TX flexes. I think that’s accurate but could be missing some things, honestly I have just been avoiding MRC because of it.

You ain't the only one avoiding MRC.

I put a Speeder Evo III 757 tipped .5 in my Sim 2 fairway & I don't think I have mishit the thing thing at all. Super easy to elevate off the fairway, Consistent bend, & a weapon off the teebox when you want to hit a nice little draw.

Look into the ZF.  Very underrated shaft that doesn't get a lot of love on tour.  I believe that JT is the only one to use one in his driver.  Mid/low and it will flatten out after it hits it's apex.

Cantlay may have switched to that in his driver recently too. Haven’t seen to many ZF’s in a 3 wood though. Intriguing shaft as well as the BF, but I haven’t hit either.

BF launches a tad higher and spins more so it can get pretty spinny.  ZF hits its peak then just flattens out.  Spins less as well.  I did noticed Cantlay with a silver/grey shaft in his driver.  May very well be the ZF.

Similar SS as you and I just got a Tour AD TP 8 and absolutely love it in my 3wood. Mid launch and low spin by my accounts. Can’t compare it to the newer Diamana or Tensei specifically though.

Callaway preowned recently added a decent amount of tour ad shafts and has a 30 day return policy.

The original HZRDUS Smoke 70 is my favorite 3W shaft. I find it’s more mid-low than low-low, smooth and powerful. Got it in F9 and Epic Flash SZ 3 woods. What’s the current equivalent? RDX smoke black?
