Recommend me and older milled puttter

Jc0

Recommended Posts

Kind of want to try a new milled answer style putter but don't really want to break the bank. Was wondering what are some good options that may be a few years only that would be under $200. Things that came to mind were redwoods or odyssey black series but wanted to see if there were any other recommendations. Doesn't have to be one piece but no non metal inserts.

The Redwood line is nice, if you want something a touch heavier the Ping Anser Milled line is great, a ton of neck options there.

Bettinardi BB1, these have been around for a while and can find recent models to a few years old.

A few Kevin Burns putters on ebay from his early days. Quite cheap but great putters.

Never Compromise Dinero or Portofino. They're forged and milled and can be had for under $100 at times. Too underrated of a putter line.

Many more as well.

Agree with all of the above.
I've had some used Kevin Burns putters over the years and they are great sticks.  I also have a Never Compromise Dinero putter in the collection.  It looks (from the top) and feels a lot like one of my Cameron Mil Spec's but a lot less money.  I picked one up in excellent condition for under $100.
I would also add some of Tad's work in there.  I have a couple of his Pro 1 TS putters that I paid $100 each for and absolutely love them.  That washboard face milling is legit.

Never compromise is a fantastic option, forgot about those.

Never compromise is a great option, I have both a Gambler Royal and Dinero Baron. They are forged and milled 303 stainless. Very light milling so the feel is crisp but smooth out of the middle. Another option is Odyssey Protype tour series. The tour series is carbon with a mid mill so it is very soft less crisp. Tried to show the milling and top lines. Gambler Royal, Dinero Baron and Protype #2 left to right. Face of the NC is actually a perfecto not an anser style but it has the same milling.

The name and the branding was a little gimmicky but the putter itself was really good.

I love the Anser style Tad Moore's, who doesn't. But a nice one may cost over $300.00.

My sleeper recommendation, however is the 1998-99 Cleveland TA Milled 1 (std neck) and face balanced TA Milled 2 (long neck). About 5 grams heavier than the Cameron Newports of that era and the soft 8620 carbon steel has a better feel than those Newports and the Gun Blue Melanite finish is much more durable than Oil Can & Gun Blue Camerons.

The TAM's are much harder to fined, but a nice one could be from $100.00 to $175.00 where as a 1995 > 2000 Newport in poor condition may start at $225.00.

Yo. These are all super good options listed in this thread and I doubt you can go wrong with any of them. I really like the Black Lab idea for a traditional Anser. I always wanted one of those.

The only other one I can think of that is a little more off the beaten path and non traditional would be a Bellum Winmore Cloverdale. I own one (see below) and it rolls and feels nice.

It would if you spent an extra $100 and sent it to Ken Flannigan. 😀😀

Mine could, but it's too light and I'm planning something awesome. So it's in the exodus pile of putters for me.

I prefer a lighter putter so it's perfect for me.

It does feel great and I'd rather not chop off the neck if I won't use it. I'd rather it find a new home to be gamed.
