Some electricians use ground up to signify a switch controlled outlet.   Either orientation meets local and US national building code.

This electrician ( I’m not but I play one on tv ) subscribes to the safety aspect.  It was explained to me that if you have a kid slide something metal down between the cord plugged in and the outlet and it’s ground down.  He’s shocked or dead.  If it’s ground up.  No harm.  Plus ground up makes my wife see red.  So I wired our house ground up.  😂

If the electrician was concerned about kids, he should have installed GFCIs.  

Ground orientation is moot.

I don't know why women (or men) try to "fix" or control their partner to suit them. I'd be getting resentful quick if I were in your position.

 

As for the problem. I could see that being irritating, but sh** happens.

I was hitting pitch shots over the house from the front yard to the back. My young daughter and nephew would run around the house and retrieve the ball and bring it back. LOL I know this is an old thread but here goes---- Our first Boston Terrier liked any kind of ball period even those bigger than her--- One day we were in the front yard and I was flipping a 60* and she was catching it in the air. Now in those days I practiced and played everyday. But then my brain kicked in I realized it----- if I happended to blade one I could kill her. I stopped much to her dismay ( they pout worse than a kid). Went to Wally World up the street and got some foam whiffle balls danger solved.
