I210 to P770 big distance loss?? Help.

For the “get fitted” crowd. I am on Tuesday.

Long story short… have been playing i210 for a few years now. On my 2nd set.  Power spec lofts to bring trajectory down a bit.

I’m a relatively decent player. Hover around a 0-2 handicap at anytime depending on frequency of play.

Anyway… got bored with i210 and just wanted to try something new. Loved the looks of P770 and read any and every review I could find. Pulled the trigger.

Depending on the club I’ve lost anywhere between 10-15? yards. Went from LZ 6.0 in the i210, which I’ve played forever to just the stock KBS tour 120 in the 770’s. Im a little curious as I thought I would be picking up some distance with the tech in the 770’s.

It’s midnight and I can sleep so I figured I’d look for some insight here.

The P770s are slightly weaker lofts than your i210s w/ power spec lofts, but not enough to make them 1-1 1/2 clubs shorter based on loft alone. Maybe the P770s are spinning more for you causing a loss in distance? Is there anywhere you can go locally to check your spin and launch numbers?

IMO/

We get bored with our Ping 210/410/425 clubs because they’re very easy to hit consistently. There’s clearly something in their design that promotes a repeatable impact position. We then sell our boring Pings for more “exciting” clubs, can’t hit them nearly as well, sell them, and buy more Ping 220/435, or whatever.
My experience has been that TM and Titeist player-level clubs tend to be the “furthest away” from the Ping mechanics. Callaway is a better mesh.

Your point is well taken and I think there's truth to that theory. But my answer to the OP was going to be the slightly more simplistic version, "Sounds like you just don't hit those P770 very good, get rid".

I've tried lots of irons (or hybrids or drivers) over the years that I simply can't hit worth a darn. There's nothing says a good looking club has to actually work well for you!
