Looking for the highest launching highest spinning 95-105 gram iron shaft….

Beginning to think I’m the only guy left in the world that wants to hit my irons high and spin them more. I’m currently play i95r in my irons, but need more launch and spin. I’ve been looking at a few options:

 

Recoil 95r

Modus 105r

Ping AWT 2.0r

Elevate 95r

XP 95r

 

Any advice from shaft guru’s would be helpful. I’m coming off a shoulder injury and have lost some strength and speed. Right now, I’m about 75mph with 7 iron with a quick tempo.

Elevate and XP 95 gets my vote.  Recoil and Modus are mid launch.  AWT 2.0 are variable launch; long irons launch high and short irons are mid flight.

would lean towards Elevate as well, and maybe try Steelfiber FC i80s if you can test them.

Add the steelfiber fc90's to the list.

 

But you should realize, that all a higher launching shaft does is produce a bit more dynamic loft at impact.  And how much is dependent on the swing so some individuals will see little to no change in the launch/spin as they go to softer tipped shafts.  

 

So it's easier and cheaper (and more reliable) to get more launch and spin just by bending the head lofts weaker.     In the long run it will usually be better to pick the shaft based on feel and consistency and use the head lofts to tweak launch and spin.

 

And you're far from the only one that wants more spin.  It's just that most don't want to make the necessary sacrifice in distance that's needed to get it.

First try a spinner ball….one of the Mizuno models is go to ball from the guys at TXG if you need more spin.

Funny I find the KBS 90 to be more mid flight for me. 
 

AWT have been really high for me. But to be honest in testing a DGS300 was maybe 5% lower in total than a KBS90S .

Thanks. I do Love the feel if the Steelfiber  i95 shafts that are in my irons. I just feel like with my shoulder injury I don’t load them like I used to. And as a result shots are lower with less spin and less distance. I’ve lost at least a club to club and half distance. I know some of that is strength and speed, but I’m interested to hear your comments on the fc90s. I tried the i80 shaft and it was just too light for me to control. I have a quick tempo so sometimes I get into  trouble with really light shafts. The i95 was great for me before because it was lighter in overall weight, but didn’t feel light in my hands or when I swung it, what would be your opinion on the recoil 95 vs the fc90s? I hit the recoil 95 in a Srixon 585 and hit it much higher than my normal mid trajectory.

The fc90's area a little softer (tip side) than the recoil 95's (for the same flex).

 

When you are comparing shafts in different clubs, you need to make sure the other club specs are the same before you can really attribute the different flight to the shaft.  e.g.  swing weight, grip size, playing length, head loft.

Can you find a high launch / high spin that fits a quick tempo? 950gh are the same....no quick tempo

Fit for tempo is really about shaft weight (and swing weight).  If he's not having any problems now with 95 gm shafts, going to the KBS 90's (or other steel 90'ish gram options) wont likely cause any more issues with the tempo.
