This might be a European thing but so often we hear about “Spanish hands”. Essentially because Ballesteros and Olazabal were great around the greens, every Spanish player ever, by association has these “hands” which must be at last worth 2 shots a round it would seem.

"From that side of the fairway he has a good / bad angle to the flag."

"That putt will break to the left," as it breaks to the right.

"That putt doesn't break very much," as it dives 3 feet to the left at the hole.

And why do they have to explain what the ball is doing on the green when I have eyes of my own?   Jeez, these folks really like to hear themselves talk.

This is Notah Begay. The guy must get $10 every time he is wrong or something.

Anyone who throws in an entirely spurious 'if you will' at the end of a sentence.

Also, use of the phrase 'in and of itself.' Ever.

And Ken Venturi's 'watch this.' I was planning to, Ken. I even bought a TV and tuned it in to the golf this evening for that very purpose.

One that always gets me is a breaking putt that misses either in front of, or behind the hole followed with the comment, "needed to hit it harder to take the break out of it".  Sure, so they can be further away from the hole than they were on the previous putt.  Great advice for all the regular players out there in the audience.

Thank you for letting me vent that one!

"he's not going to be happy with that" -Every single time a wedge isn't inside 5 feet

"You gotta pick the speed for the line"-No sh# sherlock

"I don't understand pulling driver here"-Just because it's a short hole

"Wow, what an aggressive shot!"-Anytime a mid/long iron ends up close to the hole, but was likely a misshit to a more conservative target

I’d vote for “ billy Ray “.    That’s the one phrase that just kills me.  The next would be when they say “ hit a little gap wedge there “ for a player that has never ever carried a gap wedge. #1 being tiger. Faldo will do that constantly with tiger for some reason.  It’s the  fact that he’s so sure of it that bugs me. And it’s a certain impossibility in reality.

I never noticed it until it was pointed out, but when the announcers say "from SOME 232 yards" or "this putt of SOME 43 feet" it drives me nuts. There's no need for it and it makes it sound like they're being imprecise while offering exact distances.

Gary Koch is the worst about this.

Koch’s “ever so slightly” sounds silly too. Why the “ever so”? Is ever so slightly more slightly than just slightly? And if so, how much???

When they mention the wind being a factor on a putt or a short chip to make it seem more difficult, especially on straight forward 3-5 footers.

Others have already mentioned it but the two that are like a squeaky chalkboard are Koch’s “ever so slightly” and Nobilo calling two shots into the same green as “perfect” even though they end up in different spots.
