to whoever criticized Nelly about messing with her hair, makes me think you have never dated/lived with a female with that much hair, if you had as much hair as Nelly or Jessica and you had it bunched up under a hat for 6+ hours in sweltering 90+ dg heat, the first thing you would want to do is take off the cap and shake your locks and get some air to your scalp....

Im just thankful that Nelly has at least for now broken the Asian stronghold on the top spot in golf

I'm not completely in tune with every sport played in the Olympics, but is there another sport where the players are out in the elements for 5+ hours over 4 days? I'm guessing that the answer is no.

I am a male of asian descent, but Im an American male, and I pull for my fellow country men and women first

👍👌

I'm Chinese and born in Canada.

Golf is basically an individual sport....so I root for individual players and not normally based on nationality.....I like all kinds of players whether they are Spanish, Swedish, German, American, Korean, Chinese, Thai's, Japanese, etc, etc.

I really don't have a favorite male or female Canadian player.

I can't stand Mike Weir.

In a sense, it's a dream come true for me as well.  I firmly believe the landscape of women's professional golf will start to change forever.  LPGA has always been in the long shadow of PGA Tour; but no more.  Xander Schauffele's gold medal may've created ripples for men's golf but Nelly's gold will create waves for women's golf.

With stars like Nelly and Lydia, new comers like Patty Tavatanakit and Yuka Saso; we'll see the purse of women's golf start to move substantially higher.

That first win at the CWO was classic. Yeah, she looked like she was on a school field trip to Disney World. I've been a huge fan since that day.

My favorite was at the KPMG at Kemper Lakes. She was paired with So Yeon. On the first tee when she saw So Yeon she literally skipped over to her and gave her a big hug. It was like watching a little sister meet her big sister after an extended absence.

There's absolutely nothing fake about Lydia. She doesn't just turn it on when the cameras are around.

Like Wie and Creamer?🤣

Spoke with a guy who said his team selected SYR as their pro am partner...not their 1st choice as their more favored pros had already been chosen in the draw.

He said he and his team were so happy playing with SYR that they'd select her again.

On the flipside, he said Creamer was a snob.

I've never seen anything like this on Instagram!  Nelly has 330,000 followers now, up 15,000 from this morning.  Both Jessica Korda and Lydia Ko have been adding numerous followers during the same period.

It confirms the proposition that both the Olympics and the Solheim Cup bring ten times more new eyeballs than the Major Championships.

Hinako Shibuno went from less than 50,000 followers to more than 250,000 followers after her 2019 AIG Women's Open win.  But, that's more uniquely Japanese, it hasn't happened to Major winners from other countries.

I was searching/browsing through YouTube looking for Round of 32 highlights from this year's USWA, and I stumbled across the final round of Henderson vs. Gillman. Brooke was definitely not as polished as she is now in front of the camera. She was a little miffed after her loss, but she's sure come a long way.

Fast forward half a decade, and Kristen barely makes a cut, and Brooke has double digit wins and a darling of the tour.

No doubt Olympic golf is good for the game. Yeah, it's a weaker field than every other major, and can feel a little contrived. However, for the non or casual fan, it can certainly provide a good look at the quality of play. Nelly's peek at a 59 in the 3rd round was certainly captivating.

Mixed events seem to have become a thing at the Olympics. Archery and track and field relay for example. As much as I'd like to see a mixed team event in golf, I really don't see the top male players hanging around. Many of the men are at the WGC this week. I don't see how a mixed team event with a bunch of lesser named men would help.

Only if you are under the impression that Instagram followers equals actually viewing golf tournaments on a regular basis.  Most of those that are obsessed with Instagram are more interested in that, than they are about watching the golf

Answer me this.

How did you get past security considering you're on the front page of the Top 10 most wanted in the BINDER?🤣

You should give @18majors some tips on how to access events...he's still hasn't figured out how to remove his restraining order from Yealimi and Bianca.

I'm surprised SYR didn't ignore you or flip you the bird....you're wearing a Chinese Taipei Int'l Crown shirt.

Did SYR's mom take the picture?

1) I believe Brooke refused to give an interview after her loss....choked it up after a 3 up lead late in the match.

2) Going back to 2000....only 3 USWA winners have won on the LPGA.

So at the age of 16 exactly how polished should someone be when being interviewed? Especially after a loss.

I heard several people at the course yesterday talking about watching the final round - it was obvious they were not regular watchers of women's golf, since they didn't know a lot of the players by name (I mean, if you don't know Lydia Ko you clearly don't know).   But they enjoyed it.  Probably won't create legions of new fans in this country, but it certainly didn't hurt.  And who knows, India might become the next Korea.

It was a very well run even that should have met every expectation imaginable.  Hard to find anything to criticize other than the heat and, uh, HEY!  Rich Lerner!  Stop setting up Paige giggles ffs!
