Wait a second...thought you ditched the Ping's for the PXG's?

Just the irons. The driver, woods, hybrid, wedges, and bag are still Pings.

I've played a couple of goat tracks this summer, but nothing that bad. My 'El Cheapo' circuit has been in fairly decent shape.

This is about as bad as it's been.

The commentators mentioned today's golf is being played in 45C ! (roughly 113*F?) ... didn't know that Tokyo/Japan ever reached those temperatures!

During the Heat Dome here in late June...we had similar temps.

On June 26....I quit after 9 holes....I might have soldier on if I paid a green fee, but I bought an annual pass/membership.

I know of one course that closed and the tee sheet at my club was basically empty.

We SMASHED temperature records.

No real surprises at the top of the leaderboard. Aditi perhaps, but she had a good showing at the Dow. Klara is probably the most unlikely near the top. Nanna is often contending, but rarely plays well in the final round when it counts.

Really..I'm pretty surprised in Klara, Nanna, Aza, Carlota, Aditi, Wei Ling, Min Lee, and despite the huge following on here for Bianca, she hasn't really done much in her 9 events this year a T12 being her best finish.

Nanna only has 1 top ten all year, and her worst final round this year was a +2 and was no where near contention.

If this goes full 4 rounds, the better putters will move up the leaderboard - awesome bent greens, firm with slopes, the more the best putt on them, the easier they will get for them...remember The Evian (Alamo ha ha).

If it rains for rds 3 & 4....the slower greens will help the lousy putters.

But I'm loving the slick greens now....giving the gals fits.

Yeah, agree on the rain impact - I hope not.

Today's viewing reconfirmed how crappy Lexi and even Brooke are on the greens.

I'm looking at early rounds only, not finishes. Nanna had a few good early rounds, but stumbled on the weekend.

You're right about Bianca. She's had a poor year.

I still say Lexi is worse than Brooke....especially Lexi's yippy/jerky stroke on 2-4 ft putts....she must be watching my garbage putting stroke.....I miss too many 3-8 ft putts for birdies....it's pathetic.....especially when skins are to be won.

On Monday...a 3 ft par putt miss stopped me from collecting $15 for a KP win...ugh.....gotta get down in 2 to collect.

I'm sorry for your loss. I practice a minimum of 100 putts per day and I'm still crap (not really, I'm a giant amongst putters ha ha).

Alena Sharp is worse. Michelle Wiesy North West is even more so.

I lived in Japan for 27 years, so I'll insert some random Japanese info -->

Golf is not as expensive as it once was. The golf business had to change when the tax laws changed to eliminate deductions for businesses. Many courses were on the brink of bankruptcy. They restructured financially and some companies formed to acquire and manage golf courses. One company (Pacific Golf Management) owns or operates about 140 courses. both public and private. There are no municipal courses in Japan. The public wouldn't allow it.

It's no longer just a game for businesses or business. Japan has the second most courses in the world behind the US.

You stop for lunch at the turn for an hour. Lunch is included, but the beer is extra! No drink carts. There are usually a couple of small buildings each side with drinks, cold towels, hot towels in the winter, etc.

I played a few times at Kasumigaseki and at many courses in the Kanto area of Tokyo/Yokohama. A weekday round including lunch at a great Nicklaus designed course in Ibaraki where I lived was only about the equivalent of US$110, including lunch and range balls. Far less than the cost of golf in Scottsdale where I am now.

Golf is civilized in Japan. And lunch isn't a burned hot dog on a stale bun. This is a lunch:

No tipping in Japan.

and the Omokase meals prior to that... I could only partake of these when I had my Japanese friends with me -- why?  some kanji/hiragana/katakana knowledge notwithstanding,  I don't even know what to do and where they are LOL...  Recalled going to my first one with the correct address, waiting downstairs, only to realize the "dining" area was on the 2nd floor! LOL... they were waiting for me upstairs as I strolled around in circles downstairs - like wtf is this place?

Now to some really serious stuff...

Picking up the Asian coverage in Oz with Ali et al on commentary and like @Argonne69 has mentioned re the visuals they are good, nice variety of players covered. IMO I like Ali's commentary generally and I think that she, Tony et al are doing a decent job in filling out some background info on players. Duke is getting some nice PR.

So Brooke with Brittany on her bag tees off on the first hole. No mention of Brittany. What? Can it really be? Please let it be, please give my PTSD related to this issue a rest.

But like a fart in a spacesuit, when it comes to Brooke it never goes away and only takes until her 2nd shot on hole #1 before we hear the inevitable 'Brooke with her sister Brittany on her bag'.

I'm going to embrace Stockholm syndrome and learn to identify with my captor, it's just easier.

However, the Ali et al commentators gave up the clue as to how the Brooke/Brittany axis of evil can be broken...I wait for the day that it is possible, maybe next event.

@KBong...note the clue to my dastardly Brooke plan was given today by the Ali team commentators.

I lived in Tokyo in '14 and '15. I found September, and especially October to be beautiful weather there...cooling off and the humidity pretty much gone.

I can get hot, humid, and rain where I am.  I prefer the winter months for large change in temp and the early-Spring (warming up but a bit drier).  But overall it is one of my favorite cities...

Kent Paisley doesn't disappoint

Nelly Korda eyes another American gold

"I kind of think like by now this is my fifth year on tour that I would hopefully kind of know how to handle these situations,” Korda said. “You learn the most from your own experience, it's really easy for someone else to tell you how it's going to be or how you should handle situations, but everyone else handles situations differently.”
