How many Par 3 greens have you hit in a row?  I'm sitting at 7 straight right now, and 13 for 17 my last 4 rounds (3 different courses). YTG on the current streak: 108y, 145y, 185y, 110y, 230y, 207y, 124y.  My approach game is generally atrocious, so it's nice to have this little run going.

Funny, I track this stat.

I am on a run of 6 straight, personal best was 10.

I just screwed myself.

Congrats! That's good going, keep it up!

I've never thought of keeping a tally of that - but I'm definitely gonna start now! Thanks for the inspiration!

I hit one once back in 2011.

Was it the one you were aiming for though?

We have a par 3 that i have not hit in regulation all season so it's not a very high number for me.

One of our par 3's is a disaster. It's 215-230 from the back tees and it's uphill, and the green used to be so tilted from back to front (designed that way to accept shots from 230yds) , that once you got on the green, putting was like a circus act.

The members complained so it was re-designed to being flat. However now you are hitting 220yds uphill to a shallow green that is completely flat. It's incredibly difficult to hit in regulation. I've hit the green several times the ball just bounces off the back. I am probably 0/30 or so on the season

Well, my streak came to an unceremonious end last night. First par 3, I actually pulled a 6 iron instead of 9! Wtf! Clearly my brain was everywhere except the shot in question. I had made a mess of the previous hole, 100+ heat index, trying to extend a streak. You name it. Once you’re there, you might as well just walk over and drop one in the woods.

What a nightmare! The 230y par 3 at my regular course is downhill with a back to front slope. Tree lined fairway with woods behind the green, the best shot for me (righty) is a high fade over the neighboring home’s garden.

LOL - I maybe hit 1 of 4 per round. Such a disappointing part of my game, and strange because I'm a pretty solid ball striker with my irons.

I’m the same. We have three par 3s. It’s very rare I hit more than 2 a round although I consider ball striking one of the better parts of my game.

We have one of these, our 17th. It’s a bear. 205-225 depending on where the flag is. Plays +18~ yards depending on front or back with a huge ridge in the middle of a two tiered green. Green isn’t very deep considering the clubs needed to hit into it.

Usually if you hit this green in one of the money games, you win CTP.

As a corollary to this, look up what the PGA Tour scoring average is for par threes.  I want to say it is actually above par.  If you are using some flavor of stats tracking (grint, accros, etc) and you look at your scoring and you are below 3.5 or so I am thinking you are doing a very good job.

So back on topic, if you are hitting the green that often you ought to be performing well above your pay grade.

Absolutely is over par. Pros average 3 shots from ~ 170 yards, and most definitely their par 3s average > 170 yards.

Let’s see…..it’s 215-230…. a bit uphill….carry the one….plays about 225-240.   But @MtlJeffis on wrx so that’s a smooth 4 iron?  Maybe just nuke 5 for more height?
If you can’t hold the green with that then maybe a strong 6 hybrid would work?

Oh downwind or no wind on a hot day MtlJeff hits a 4 iron, but even then I've yet to hold the green. You really have to almost bump it on. Very very few balls hold the green.

When the pin is on the front left, it can play as little as like 195, but even then the smart play is to leave it a bit short. I've hit as little as 6 iron downwind.

But again the problem with that is it's downwind traveling 190 yds to a very shallow green that is uphill and flat

Of course I hit it yesterday for the first time...with a 4 iron. Just BARELY

This is the back of the green, and i landed short of the green with a well struck ball.

Last time I played 18 I parred 3/4 par threes.  Only hit the green on 1/4.  197, 199, 227 and 124 yards.  Found the green on the 197 yard hole with a 5 iron.  Chipped or pitched on the rest and scrambled for par on 2/3 of those.

227 is a struggle for a guy that goes 3 wood then 3 iron in his bag.  I was actually attempting to intentionally lay up short and maybe let a 4iron run up but hooked it and it barely stayed in bounds.  Pitched on and two-putted for 4.  I felt fortunate considering where I was after my tee shot.

I got up to 11 last year on 2 different courses. Had a stretch where off a tee with an iron it felt like throwing a dart. Haven't been anywhere near close to that since. Most of our par 3's are around 180 to 200 yards with massive greens, so my actual 2 putt rate was not very good.

Actually, I never even thought about that stuff. I can only say that at Ferry Point Park yesterday, I hit all 4 Greens. One to about 4' (birdie), another within 15' that I lipped out and tapped in, and the other two were long range but lagged up to 2 putt. So, hit all 4 and parred each. Probably something I've never done at any course that I can remember.
