Yet Another Jumbo LFF question...

Recommended Posts

I think I may have finally landed an LFF, but I do have some questions on dating it.  I have combed through the many posting and have compiled this list to help me date the one I will be receiving...

1950: red fiber insert, L.F.F on toe, no Eye-O-Matic stamping on sole plate, 5 screws
1951: red fiber insert, L.F.F on toe, no Eye-O-Matic stamping on sole plate, 5 screws
1952: White,Red,White insert, -LFF- on toe, EYE-O-MATIC stamping on sole plate, 5 screws
1953: White,Red,White insert, L.F.F on toe, EYE-O-MATIC stamping on sole plate, 6 screws
1954: White,Black,White insert, -LFF- on toe, EYE-O-MATIC stamping on sole plate, 6 screws
1955: White,Black,White insert, -LFF- on toe, EYE-O-MATIC stamping on sole plate, 6 screws

Based on this I believe it is a 1950 or 1951 M09 Jumbo L.F.F (shows M09 Jumbo L.F.F on toe, does not have eye-o-matic on sole plae and appears to have red fiber insert) will have better pictures in a few days.  Does the above list look correct?  I also have the Kaplan book, but it does not go into the difference between L.F.F and -LFF- stampings.  Was there even a difference between the 1950 and 1951 model?   Will send pictures when I receive clubs, is part of a lot.

FedEx is killing me.  Delay after delay, will hopefully arrive on Friday!  I am hoping the condition of the face is as good as the sole plate also.  Appears to be a bit a shrinkage or something around where the shaft comes through so hoping it is still in decent shape at that spot.  The pictures I have are very blurry, but have to take a gamble when an LFF pops.  First one that I have seen in my price range for 5 years.  Fingers crossed.

It has finally arrived.  Appears to have been reshafted with a stiff TT shaft.   I see a small crack peeking out from under the whipping, but it does not extend down to the neck.  Face looks very good, sole plate is beautiful.  Will need some serious TLC from a professional, but should be a perfect restore candidate.  What do you think?

No question.  Will need a skilled hand to bring this up to code.  Question for me is, when it is redone, would you opt to have an original shaft from the period source and put in or, move forward with something similar S300, S400 etc.  I would actually like to be able to play it occasionally.  Also in regards to my original question, I am thinking this is 1950 or 1951.  Not sure there is any way to narrow it down more than that.
