As a germaphobe I would never lick my ball. That said for some reason I’ve been thinking it’s ok for me to lay my cigar on the ground between shots and then pick it up and start puffing again. Not any longer.

You need a "Tee-Gar." Sold in cigar shops world wide. They also make clips that clip to a cart post for your cigar.

Spit on the towel or the clubface then wipe it off.

Also clean your clubs every so often.  Clean clubs stay clean.

As for balls, I have one of those little dish rag (or smaller) sized towels that came with a larger one I can keep in a back pocket.  Just get a small spot o fit damp and wipe the ball off as needed.  Heck, wiping it with your thumb gets it clean enough most of the time.

Never licked a ball in my life and have absolutely no intention of doing it, but hey if there are guys out there that want to lick balls then let them, who are we to judge, its a free world out there apparently

After they peed 3x in the bushes on the back 9..and maybe even dropped a deuce at the turn and didn't wash their hands

Yeah, I'm a lot less worried about them running their hands through their sweaty hair than I am about them holding their sweaty junk several times during the round then reaching out to shake hands.

I used to lick my ball to wet it then rub the dirt off of it with my fingers or a towel. My bride, a germaphobe nurse, about had a stroke when she saw me do it, lol. Now I just spit on it. I did it for years. I'm sure of all the things I've done in my life, licking a dirty golf ball is probably not going to be what does me in. I think decades of smoking and dipping (of which I also quit) will probably be my downfall.

Ya but you no wear full pads and a 5 pound helmet and run a bunch of gassers (back and forth width of the field 2x) after cracking heads. Plus a “middle” session of 20 minutes of HIT.

In August heat!!!!

Lol, just kidding. It’s just crazy the concept of dehydration was ignored by the sports world until recently!

I played ball in the mid 90s (I'm only 40 now) and we did the exact same thing. And our August/September heat on the gulf coast was miserable.

We had a piece of PVC with holes drilled in it about every 3 feet and they would turn it on once at some random point during practice. we had to line up and they would give you a few seconds to suck in as much water as you could get our of a 1/4" hole, then it was right back to it. Miraculously, I do not recall anyone ever suffering from any heat related issues. we did it and didn't dare complain. Complaining meant more of it and there was always someone right behind you wanting your spot. Coaches today would be jailed for treating these babies the way we were treated.

I still do that at time. Lately I've been resting it somewhere on the cart, which probably isnt any better.

Ya and this coach of ours who was holding the water hose, was like, when you were a freshman, you got 3 gulps of water and hed yell

Next!

But seniors got maybe 7-10 gulps lol.

He did seem to be more generous on extremely hot days, to his credit 🤣

And yeah, I don’t recall anyone suffering a bad situation from dehydration which is pretty lucky I guess.
