Worrying about the Ladies' mental health (Simone Biles)

I can't imagine the mental pressure on the Ladies playing on the tour.   I assume many are feeling what Simone Biles is feeling.

And as I watch faces on the TV, granted not a particularly scientific diagnosis, I "see" high levels of stress on many of the ladies.  I'd mention names, but I fear some actually read these threads.

I'm worried about them.  I hope they can take care of themselves.

My opinion is:  before the games everyone was calling her the GOAT.   Things were different when fans weren't allowed to view the games and her support of family and friends were missing.   The pressure to be the best must have been overwhelming.   When she didn't achieve her level of success, the self induced stress was increased.   I can't imagine the pressure an elite athlete endures.

I don't know much about Biles...has her performance leading up to the Olympics been on a decline?

 

I think Naomi Osaka is mentally struggling too.

She looked like she was airmailing it in in her loss the other night....lack of passion.

Is she getting tired of playing tennis?

 

In another thread, somewhere in WRX....assuming everything is accurate....seems like Naomi and her family have been living in the US "illegally" and Naomi is shying away from the media to avoid these questions???

I hope anyone going through mental health challenges gets help.

 

I also think this is very prevalent in the "real world" and i hope if the world of sports does anything, it's that it draws attention to that so people with less resources get the help they need

Hmmm. At the risk of coming off as the “forum police”. There is the whole Biles isn’t a LPGA member and this is the ‘LPGA/Ladies golf talk’ sub forum. So there’s that. Is this about Simone Biles or players on the LPGA tour? And if it’s not about SB, why is her name in the title??? 🤷🏼‍♂️And then naturally (it already has) Osaka will be brought up (not a LPGA member either) and… Maybe take your chances over in the ‘19th hole’ sub forum.

I blame the media to an extent. But yes, i feel for these people, especially the "chosen ones" the ones who are supposed to be the next big thing. Can't be easy living up to the hype.
