Former Callaway X-Forged 2018 iron players - what do you play now?

I have been playing X-Forged 18 irons since the release in 2018 and really like it. Now three years have passed and I guess I will have to look for new models.  (I play a lot and currently in my third set of X-Forged irons.  It will become a challenge to find new X-Forged 18 irons when I need a new set).  For those of you who played X-Forged 18 irons for an extended period of time and loved the irons, what do you play now?  How does it compare to X-Forged 18?  Thanks.

The 18 x forged was one of the best irons of that year’s release.  Such a good iron!  Endo forged…I think…

This might be a different idea, but the Bridgestone tour b x cb is very similar to design and feel.  I played the tour b’s for 3 seasons and tested the x forged off and on when they were released.

The only reason I did not bag the x forged was because they were too similar to the stones.  Outside of the chrome finish on the stones, they felt so close, look similar in shape and gave me similar numbers.  The stones have a little wider sole and a little sharper toe on the higher lofted irons, 8-pw.

I’m still playing those X Forged but have been thinking about what Iron I will play next. I haven’t hit the zx7’s outdoors yet, but they felt good indoors. Going to try the new Mizuno’s when they come out as well. Hard to match the feel of the X Forged though.

Has anyone transitioned to the new 2021 Apex TCB irons from X-forged 18? I know there is 2021 X-Forged CB version but TCB is more like the direct successor of X-Forged 18.

I (and Wunder)would say the TCB is more like the ‘19 Apex Pro Double Dots. I think the ‘21 X Forged is similar to the ‘18. It’s slightly longer blade length than the TCB

I agree with that.  Have looked at both carefully. The 2018 has a slightly thinner top line and the 2021 has a touch more offset (some pros requested that from Callaway) but the two irons are pretty similar in size. But let’s remember the main difference is the 2018 X Forged is all forged while the XFCB has a face plate and internal filled cavity.

TCB definitely is shorter heel to toe and more rounded. I think the XFCB top line is slightly thicker due to the multi-material construction and the welded face plate. Same construction with the TCB — it really is a slightly more compact, rounder version of the XFCB with less offset. Topline on 2018 X Forged is thinner than both. But due to the XFCB’s construction I am about 1/2 club longer with the ‘21 model. It has an excellent sole, not too thick and nice camber. The XFCB plays very well and it also has several pro wins already.

One more CB iron I thought of that might appeal to ‘18 X Forged players is the New Level PF-2, which is all forged like the ‘18 X Forged. The only new iron Callaway makes that will feel as good is the new Apex MB.
