Substitute For C-Taper 130?

I was fit into the C-Taper 130 in April, in a set of Mizuno JPX 921 Forged.  They were supposed to arrive in early June, but due to global logistics and supply issues, the delivery date was pushed back to early August.  I just now received an email from my club head pro, that the shafts are now pushed back to November.....

They are asking me if I want different shafts, in order to get the clubs now.  The options they suggested are:

- $-Taper X-Flex   130g

- Dynamic Gold X-100   130g

- Project X LZ 6.5    125g

During the fitting, I tested the X-100, and didn't like it as much.  I tested 2 other shafts (presumably the other 2 shafts listed) and like 1 of them almost as much as the C-Taper, but not sure which.

Any thoughts?  I know that me throwing out my "specs" isn't necessarily going to help, but here goes:  I currently use old Mizuno MX-20's, with S-300's in them.  I hit the ball very high with them, which actually kind of works at my course, because I'm behind trees more often than I would like!  I don't really have a desire to hit the ball further, or lower, but the C-Tapers really brought the left-to-right variance down significantly.

$taper will be closer to the C Taper in terms of profile and weight. But it’s designed to launch and spin more.

Compared to the s300, the c taper is going to be significantly stiffer in the mid and more linear of a profile. If that’s what you’re responding to, $taper shares that characteristic to a degree with tweaks to launch and spin higher.

I played C-taper 120 and $-Taper 120 as well as X-100 TI and found the two KBS shafts to play similarly. I was fitted for C-taper 130 but thought it was way too stiff to actually play a full round with. I did NOT like the Project X 6.5...it was a completely different feel and was "tinny" and hollow feeling even on good shots. The other three felt solid.  I suspect you will like the $-taper. KBS Tour V is another shaft that is close in spin and similar feel to the C-taper if that is an option.

Thanks for the replies so far!  I have a project X in my callaway x forged UT that is 6.0, and that seems to be temperamental and inconsistent.  It’s a 6.0 flex, I was thinking about changing that to match my new set.  That’s the reason I’m not excited about the project x alternative, even though that is what the Mizuno rep is suggesting as the best option.

the dumbest part is that I’ve found a few sets of c-tapers online, but Mizuno won’t sell the heads to me, and they won’t let me ship the c-tapers to them.

Yes thats very unfortunate for you, there is a massive difference between the Project X 6.0 and 7.0 so you are not really comparing like with like as far as the C Taper 130 X is concerned, hopefully you find a shaft which suits you.

I liked the 6.5 rifles.  They were very close on spin/launch numbers.  I ended up with the ctaper 130’s just due to availability when I ordered.

Just spoke with KBS on their new players graphite and the TGI 110’s are also a close replacement for the ctaper 130s in graphite.
