AZ Fall overseed schedule?

Can't seem to find a comprehensive schedule for this fall.

Anyone got info?

I haven't seen anything comprehensive yet either. Nothing on the AZ Golf Assn site yet. I've just heard bits and pieces of what a handful of courses are doing plus the City of Phoenix muni course schedule was posted long ago.

Baby brother wants to visit and play a decent course while he's here, but wants to come in late October when the weather cools. Heart of overseed season....

Solid List does not get published until Sept....if they did it sooner would be useless because it would be filled with TBDs.  I try and get the sorted list with reopen dates loaded here when it is the most complete.   Patience!

Would you say conditions are better for play right before over-seeding, or would you rather deal with cart path only, right as the course reopens?

 

Just found out out our bachelor party round at Whirlwind next week is the day the course reopens. Debating scrambling for a new location…

I generally avoid courses immediately after re-opening. Aside from the slow play caused by CPO (even if you walk, you are stuck behind everyone else riding unless you snag the first tee time), the ground is soft/wet and the ball doesn't roll. Greens will be quite slow.  I greatly prefer to play a course right before overseeding, with one caveat. Many courses, especially lower-end ones start their overseed preparations early while the course is still open to minimize the closure time. Sometimes the day or two before closure, certain courses will have the fairways so scalped and dried out that you can't get an iron under the ball without breaking your wrist and I don't enjoy that either. Otherwise the courses will play firm and fast right before overseed, which is a great change from the norm here.

I havent been able to find it (maybe I just missed it on the various sheets out there) but Southern Dunes is overseeding on Monday October 11.  I believe they reopen on the 30th.

Interesting note, my club at Alta Mesa is trying out a new grass called Tiff Tuff that is not only going to save water but also will not require over seeding. It is doing pretty well so far, and if it does well next summer we're going to switch over to it and by 2023, hopefully, no more over seeding!!
