Toe strikes!!! Please help!

Hi All,

 

Just returned from the range after utilizing impact tape for the first time. As you can see from the pic, I consistently find the toe of the club. I have a nice high ball flight and excellent distance, but tend to overdraw the ball. The ball usually starts out straight or slightly left of the target line. Pictured from bottom to top are 54*, Pitching Wedge, 7 iron, and 5 iron. Would like to hear your thoughts on what could be causing this and how to fix. Thanks in advance. Appreciate your comments.

Could be a number of things throughout your swing.  With just this info I’d say set up as you normally would but with ball in the heal of the club.  If you can get a front and down the line video of your swing there are smart people out here who will most likely take a look and offer assistance.

My toe strikes are caused by early extension.. just picked up a new drill the other day to help

Early extension could definitely be causing it.  When you EE the plane of the club at impact will not be the same as set up.  It should be more upright bringing the heal inward causing toe strikes.

Without video we can only speculate as there can be several reasons for this.

I'm one of those people that toe strike when standing to far away from the ball. I'll stand up out of my hunch back position during the downswing and yank the club in. Toe strike feels so terrible I know right away I need to get in closer.

When I hit it off the toe it generally comes from losing my spine angle and having my legs freeze up a little bit in the downswing.
