Ping G425 Crossover thoughts?

i also am interested in peoples thoughts on these I am waiting on my 4-UW G425's to come in and am a little concerned with not having at least a 3 iron to rely on. Currently in my set, I carry a 2 and 3 irons along with my driver and a 2 and 3 hybrids(they are old).

My current thought was to add the G425 3 and 5 woods and then also add a 3 crossover clubs to fill in the missing 2/3 irons I am used to.

I have the G425 4 crossover and it’s my favorite club in my bag. I don’t understand how it is so easy to hit.  I have the ping tour shaft and it’s a good fit for my swing. I hit it about 185-190. I hit the 3 at driving range and it wasn’t as easy to hit.

Perhaps. I have the original G in a 5. Its super fat. I quite enjoy it. Sounds funny, goes far and is ugly as sin.

This

And the improvements[if you want to call them improvements] to each itinerant are a strange ride

G - probably the best of the crossovers - though spin is non existent at times

400 - butt ugly with the 1st generation G700 iron feel

410 - I really wanted to like this one - see the 425

425 - it's like they combined the worst attributes of all the previous models crossovers & put them here....I'm sorry- it's a terrible club

The original Rapture driving iron from 2014 was the best by far...but they only offered the single 18* loft

Well, I pulled the trigger on the 3 crossover to go along with my g425 3w/5w that I also ordered(to go along with my G425 irons that are on order).

I'm coming from a set of Mizuno MP-20's from 2003 where I carry not only a 3 iron but also a 2 iron(don't use it very much at all anymore though). Having not used any of the prior G iterations, I think this will fit in nicely for me and fill the void of no longer having the 2/3 irons.

We will see how it goes.

I have the G crossover 3 (225 yd carry) for short par 4s and the 5 (195 carry). Both are easy to hit off tee or rug, can draw or cut them or hit high or low.

2 of the best investments in clubs I have ever made. Don't care what your SS is, trust me on this: get the X Stiff Ping Alta shaft.

funny you mentioned the Ping Alta. I had a studio driver fitting at PGA SS and wound up in that exact shaft for 425 Max driver…:

I have the 2 iron and it's an outstanding club.  I wish I had purchased the 3 iron because I hit the 2 iron so far it leaves me a slightly awkward gap in my bag for long par 3's.  I find it not very forgiving off the turf but off the tee it's money.  My make percentage for FW hit when teeing off is quite high.
