Anybody grip putters interlock?

Am watching Xander Schauffele in the Olympics right now and noticed he interlocks on his putter grip. Found this photo of his grip.

Anyone use or tried an interlock grip for putting? Pros and cons? What made you do it, what made you stay with it or change to something else?

I’ve been doing it since I started playing golf in the early 90’s.  I also extend the index finger on my right hand down the grip.

Anything else feels strange to me.

What kind of grip do you play with? have you found a certain size or shape to be more natural for an interlock?

I currently overlap two fingers using a GP tour snsr straight grip (blue one), trying to interlock on that puts my wrists at an awkward angle, but interlocking on my other putter's standard pistol grip feels more natural. Also finding out sweaty hands get worse when you interlock without gloves lol.

I might give it a try. I overlap my left hand low with my left pinky finger over my right index (I used to be the opposite, but I like to control the putter with my right hand).

Heres a video of Schauffele's set up (I think his armlock setup and current setup are the same, just couldn't find a good video of the latter), seems like he does exactly what you want to try.

I have an evnroll midlock I've been messing around with and just can't find the right grip for. I may try this left hand low interlock as it feels more natural and lets my right hand press and hold the shaft into left arm easily.

I use an Odyssey Pistol Grip on my 2 Ball Ten. I put on two extra layers of tape to build up my lower left hand and keep it a little more quiet. (That was one thing I liked about the Odyssey Jumbo that came with my 10- a thicker lower grip. Otherwise, I’m not a fan of jumbo putter grips.)

I use that interlocking grip with every grip I’ve ever had on a putter.  Superstroke, Cameron, Golf Pride - it doesn’t matter to me.  That all said, my putter grip of choice is the Golf Pride Tour Classic.  Something about that midsize, triangular profile just works for me.  Next best would be a Tour SNSR then followed by a Scotty Pistolero.

I used the same interlock I did for my full swing until this year when I went to a split hand grip.

I do the exact same thing.

As for why? Probably because that's how I grip the rest of my clubs (minus the extended index finger).

On that note, since you do grip the same as me... what kind of grip do you use?

I can honestly say I've never tried this, picked up a putter earlier today and tried it on a whim and I have to say it made the arm/wrists/putter interface feel quite stable.  Might be worth a little experimenting on the practice green.

Great forum about the interlock grip. I have always used it  but with the putter grips becoming so big people forgot how they gripped the putter. This is a wake up call for golfers to try all the grips when putting. PS- no matter how big the grip is the interlock grip might still work for you.

My preferred putter grip is the Golf Pride Tour Classic - it’s that midsize triangular profile one. Solid rubber.

I loved the stability too, experimenting with it I found that on a bigger putter grip, I lose some speed control on shorter putts (I think for shorter putts I rely less on shoulder movement and more on arms and wrists)

Currently I've settled for an exaggerated over lap grip where I overlap two fingers, gives me a similar 'connected' feel between the two hands but on bigger grips I don't have to feel like I'm reaching to interlock. Also I have sweaty hands and the interlock gets slippery in between the fingers.

Still experimenting with the interlock on the carpet- I want to get to the point where it doesn’t feel awkward before I put it into play. I have to say it really makes it feel like your hands aren’t fighting each other and working together- more of a one piece feel than not interlocking.
