Annika Leading the US Senior Women's Open. Looks good enough to win on the LPGA. They could use her.

Face it, the LPGA has had a huge hole in it since Annika's retirement.  She is playing fantastic in the US Senior Women's Open.  Sincerely hope she makes a comeback on the LPGA.

Lol. That ship has sailed. She teed it up at the Gainbridge back in February and finished 74th.

Better than watching a bunch of personality-less interchangeble 21 year olds who are finished in 5 years and no one will remember regardless of how well they play

sad but true

I know and play with lots of serious golf fans and I am probably the only one with a passing interest in LPGA

Tru dat.

She was a GOAT in her prime.

She was so consistent in her ball striking....the talent back then was not as fierce as it is today.

Annika on Sunday if threatened...would just play her own game and watch the lesser pros fade and wilt trying to chase her down....that doesn't work as well nowadays.

IMO...Annika is a good putter and not a great putter...if she was a great putter...IMO....I think Annika would own most if not all of the significant/many LPGA records.

Annika just retired too early. If she retired later she would have been the all time wins leader. Annika was a very good putter to say at least.

Will the LPGA let her play courses at 5,800-5,900 yards as the US Senior Womens Open was just played on?

I think she could compete on the LPGA and possibly win.  The event she entered earlier this year was at the start of her playing competitive golf again.  I just don’t know if she wants to commit the time.  In her time she won 23% of the time, Tiger was 22%, and before we get into level of competition debate, she played who she had to.  Winning at that clip puts both on Mt. Rushmore of golf.

Mt Rushmore of golf, Jack, Tiger, Mickey, Annika

Where is Nancy in all of this???   Also, may I just say that Annika looked much more FIT this week even than back in February at Gainbridge. Just imagine the possibilities. We'll see what Will (her influential son) has to say about this. She has to be invigorated this evening.🏆 Congrats!

Nancy 48 wins/3 majors.  The Phil of women's golf if Annika is Tiger.

It wouldn't be because of a length that she couldn't do it.  She drives it at least as far as a player like Lydia Ko

I know it's a very small sample size....Annika averaged 238 for the week.

Lydia is at 257 for the year.

I believe Lydia can hit the ball further than Annika.

I would think because of her age at 50....Annika's lack of distance would make it a challenge for Annika to compete and win on the LPGA.

BUT

Then you look at InBee at a 240 driving average on the LPGA and that logic gets thrown out the door.

Phil also won the PGA at 50 this year...though obviously lightening in a bottle.

I believe the real differentiator is putting in the time, practice, dedication and travel...they all would be a low priority for Annika at this stage in her life.

Guess we'll just have to settle for Annika beating up on inferior competition to her on courses around 6000 yards when she shows up annually to the USWSO for the next few years.

I'm kinda surprised Smiley Mike was no there for the trophy presentation....or maybe he was there....all I saw was a highlight package on the USGA site.

Again...some nice size galleries for Sunday.

So did most attend just to watch Annika?

Would have also been nice if TMac looped for Annika this week for nostalgic reasons....TMac has been absent from Carlota's bag as of late.

Yea, I think people are getting a little carried away with Annika being able to compete and win on the LPGA.

If her iron game is as strong as it looked yesterday, I think she would have no issues at all - its not like the LPGA is playing at 7200.

I was a little surprised at some of the hole yardages yesterday but I guess that is just a product of the event.

I think this might have been a one and done for her.  She is the head of a golf organization now.  The LPGA event was in her backyard.  I think she could make cuts on regular LPGA events.  But winning out there means making a lot of birdies and putting was never her greatest strength.  I think she played in this event to help promote golf.

1) I'm guessing that Annika will be playing for a few more years.

Which golf organization are you referring to?

2) This is a USGA event, not a LPGA event....it was played 1150 miles away from Annika's residence.

3) I think Annika played to increase exposure to women's golf and herself.

If you are talking about how short the course is....it is not surprising.

Lots of old players who might not even average 200 off the tee.

Us old ladies aren't that short.  Most, if not all, in the Women's Senior Open average over 200 yards.  Quite a few will still average over 220 - 230 yards (pretty much where I am).  These ladies are playas...

And the LPGA yardages are inflated too like the men’s some. Distance drives marketing and muddies the truth
