Might just be the biggest one in this thread. A COPY of his putter sells for almost $400k.

Not the one he ever used but a backup.

Do we know if he ever used it in any way?

None of the above.

The most impressive accomplishment of his career was winning 4 straight professional majors. It's never been done otherwise and probably never will be done again. It's more impressive when you look at how he did it.

Won by 15 Shots at Pebble Beach

Won by 8 Shots at St Andrews

Defeated a journeyman possessed in a playoff with numerous clutch putts setting a new 72 hole scoring record for the PGA (18 Under tying his total at the 1997 Masters)

Had to wait 8 months with the pressure of everyone asking him nonstop about the slam to finish it at Augusta where he had to beat the 2nd and 3rd best players in the world on the top of their games down the stretch.

The Tiger Slam is the greatest individual accomplishment in sports history. Forget about golf.

No.

No.

1 other person in history managed 3 in a row. In 1953.

Name some more impressive accomplishments. Single instances of unparalleled feats and not some career achievement thing.

5 people have won all 4 in a career. That's it

Yet the easiest of Tigers accomplishments to fall is going to someone else winning 4 in a row?

That's the most absurd hot take I've ever seen.

Tiger wasn't alive the last time someone else even completed a career grand slam.

He may have touched it? Lol. That’s about it. Never used in competition.  It has a COA from Scotty Cameron that states it was a backup copy of his gamer made in 2002.

My guess is that if it was listed for sale Tiger's actual putter would sell to a billionaire  for $20 million.

Probably the Tiger Slam just because how dominating he was in that span.

His winning scores in the 4 majors were -12,-19,-18, and -16 so it's not like he was playing scrappy golf and squeaking out wins. To win 4 straight majors with a winning score of double digits under par is crazy and will probably never happened again.

Also to win a tournament by 15 shots is just downright absurd. I did a quick google search and Tiger's strokes gained during the 2000 US Open was 29.2.

While it will never be recognized as one of Tiger's greatest statistical achievements his performance in the 2007 PGA Tour Championship deserves a special mention. In 2007 Tiger finished at -23 at East Lake and won by 8 shots. (Heard Tiger had trouble winning on par 70 courses.)

That winning score is better by 6 shots than the next lowest winning score at East Lake (-17, Bart Bryant over Tiger in 2005 by 6 shots) w/o the idiotic head start scoring conditions the PGA Tour has used the last 3 seasons.

Many impressive accomplishments that will probably never be matched.

But there is no way anyone will ever three peat the US Junior Am then three peat the US Am. Bobby Jones didn’t even three peat the US Am in a completely different era.

Winning a match play event like that is harder than winning a 4 round medal play tournament.  You can’t have a single bad round.

Exactly. I don't think nowadays anyone even stays an Amateur for that long. If you're good might as well go pro.  For example, Hovland won the 2018 US AM and he's currently top 20 world while only being pro for 2 years.

When I look at an entire career including amateur accomplishments I think Tiger is the lifetime GOAT golfer, period.  More majors than Jack and more tour wins etc.  For various reasons the conversation has focused on professional majors rather than majors.

If we only look at professional careers, I think he and Jack are "pick 'em" close.  Bobby Jones was never a pro, so disregard for amateur accomplishments would make Bobby a nobody.  Yes I know the pro tour as we know it didn't really exist then.  But Bobby was a lawyer who played golf very well.
