No restrictions of any kind I believe. Which then leads one to ask, can someone use a golf ball as a ball marker? Cause before they changed the rule, it might have been better for Billy Horschel to claim his ball marker rolled into the pond on 15 at Augusta rather than his ball in play.

Due to the reference in the rule's definition of "Ball-Marker" to include "small equipment" , there is an implied size restriction.  it's just not explicitly defined.  Which means the size limit of what is reasonably considered "small" is at the discretion of the USGA or rules official making the ruling.   There used to be an interpretation in the old rules about that but I couldn't find one in the latest version.  Likely based on how the size might interfere with the ability to accurately replace the ball.

That gold medal is way too rounded, there's too much stamping on the back and it should be available in raw finish.
