What's everyone's favorite sub $3-$4 tour velvet style golf grip? Been using the superstroke TX-1 (thanks to Golfworks for selling em at $2.99) BUT alas they are out of stock and I don't love the grip enough to pay full pop for them. I tinker like there's no tomorrow so I would like to keep the grip cheap. My preferred grip is the Tour Velvet, also a fan of the Lamkin crossline. 

 

Anyone got the plug on these not-so-expensive grips?

I've considered going this route but seems like a hassle to store more stuff in my small apartment.

I've been using some Karma velvet style grips.  Seems to be holding up ok.  Probably not as good as Golf Pride's or the bigger brands, but definitely better than the old Black Widow grips that seem to wear out just by looking at them lol.

Going to give DTG (diamond tour) grips a shot. For $1.49 a grip I figure it'll be a good experiment. With shipping for 13 grips it came to just a hair under $30. Shipping of $9.99 kinda kills it.

I have switched to a few different Royal grip models for my 'tinkering'.  Most are in the $5 - 6 range (CAD), but seem to pop up on discount at Golfworks at least once a year at sub $4.

I like the Saplize from Amazon. Roughly $2.75/grip.

I use the Royal Link Tec, a reduced taper grip that gets better with some use. Plenty tacky and comfortable. The Tacki Mac Tour Wrap are good once they have been cleaned. Some of them from GW have some sort of film on them.

The best value grips I know are Karma grips.  You can find them on eBay for about $30 for thirteen grips including shipping.  They are just like Tour Velvets, but much cheaper.  I mount them logo down as I do all my other grips.

I've always been a Lamkin guy but I've bought several of the Royal grip models on Golfworks whenever they have a deal (buy 6 get 6, buy 9 get 4, etc.)  and haven't been disappointed in any of them.

I'm a crossline guy but like to tinker and buy cheaper grips for that purpose. Have used the DTGs, Royals, Grip One and Karma grips.

The Royal grips are probably the best of the bunch. Nice tacky feel and very durable. The texture pattern is a bit different then the Tour Velvet but I like these grips alot.

The DTGs are also a very good grip for the price. They feel the most similar to GP Tour Velvet in my opinion but they aren't as durable and wear somewhat quickly. You should be able to get a season out of them depending on how often you play and how often you clean your clubs.

Karma grips don't feel as good as the DTGs and have the same problem with the rate of wear. I'll use these in a pinch

Grip One I absolutely hated these grips. They have a very harsh texture to them and well tear up your hands during long practice sessions. I play glove-less so this was an issue for me. The durability seemed pretty good but I sold the club I put them on. FWIW I was using the max feel model and not the velvet/crossline copy.

I just tossed some Karma Velvet 360 on my irons.  They are terrific.  $15 Amazon Prime for 13 grips

Second the Karma velvets. Just as good as GP imo.

Definitely helps. You just about covered all the options I was looking at. Glad I went with DTG to start. will see what happens from there!
