PXG Gen4 ST

0311ST gen4 8-G scheduled for delivery tomorrow.  Couldn’t pass up the price.  Right now gaming 6-W 0211DC with 0211ST W and G.  The ST W and G I strike very well from 130 and in.  So going 8-G in blades when striking well could be a good thing.  I do like the forgiveness and distance of the 0211DC in 6-8 so I will keep them in the bag.   Might swap out the bottom of the bag now and then if my striking becomes less than optimal rather than selling them.

So I received my 0311 ST G4 5i - PW in MMT S shaft in XD (all black from head to grip and they're a beauty!) last week. Hit some balls in basement to the net during the week and felt good. Went to play a round of golf on Sat and took 8-PW just test them out and see they can replace my current gamer, 0211 ST. The range was packed so I had to share the booth with my wife and didn't have enough time to test them as I had to test my new autoflex shaft on my driver at the same time...

For some reason, it didn't click and not sure why... could be the shaft could be the head. I have KBS TGI S on my 0211 ST and love the feel and tight dispersion it generates. G4 ST I just didn't have the blade feel and the shaft seemed not for me. It was like hitting a metal stick.

I'm going to take these out for a full round this weekend before deciding whether to either return them or try with my current KBS shafts. They look so gorgeous in all-black and I wish I have better outcome this week.

BTW, very impressed with my new (2nd hand) auto flex. Didn't have enough time to dial into G5 driver so just went with my old Gen2 XF driver head on Sat and it replaced the 0311 G5 driver in back 9. Can't wait to test this shaft with the G5 head!

I actually found the MMt shafts to be a bit on the harsh side of feel.

Wow, that's very surprising. TO ME they were one of the smoothest shafts, very similar to the Accra Tour 90i's I used to play.

I demoed the Steelfibers ( very harsh ), UST Recoils ( no feel to me ) and KBS TGI ( a little stiff for me ) before going with the MMT's.

Just goes to show that golf is such a personal thing right.

Does anyone know the tip size of the STs?

ALL PXG irons use a hosel of 0.370 parallel bore.

Of course a shaft with a 0.355 taper tip will work just fine if you use a collared ferrule and a 0.350>0.370 shim.

I have reshafted at least a dozen sets doing this with no issues.

I've played TCBs, Zx7s & t100s before purchasing these and they have been the best irons I've ever played. Heavy hitting blades, forgiving (for a blade) and very workable. Currently gaming 4-PW 6.5 LZ hardstepped

We have similar taste. I have just put these in the bag and they are very, very good. On monitor the spin, ball speed, launch, and peak height numbers are all incredibly consistent through the bag. Amazing turf interaction and feel. They are denser feeling irons - quite crisp but they feel very good. Mine are PX 6.5 soft stepped once.

Agree with recent posts that they are “dense” feeling. Soft but definitely a “heavy” hit. Ball speeds same as my t100 as mentioned.

t100 feel firmer to me, but not clicky.

some might prefer that as a more precise feel.

can’t say yet on mishits, haven’t had time to hit much, but I would guess they feel harsher on the t100 than ST.

incoming gen 4 0311T and 902PD comparison on my GC3.

Just got mine in on Friday, and finally got a chance to swing them.  I am very impressed.  Feel more explosive than I expected, and were more consistent and longer than my Mizuno 223's.  I think the forgiveness difference between the two was really evident if I went after one, but if I kept things within myself I was getting very consistent slight fades over and over.

Very happy with my purchase, and hope others can take advantage of it.  I went with the black and they didn't have the Gap in (now I think the black may be sold out).  Hoping to find one online somewhere.

Who here even as a better player has swapped the 4i STs for the T? What kind of ball speed and forgiveness difference is there between the two?

I have a buddy who got the 4 iron in the T and he said he wish he had ordered the ST instead.  He said the turf interaction with the T was kinda weird for him.

See that’s a big thing I struggle with and why I enjoy the STs so much. The turf interaction for me is just as good as my old 620mbs
