Now let me say I certainly appreciated NCL's suggestion to not focus on my score on Tuesday, but I'm a different kind of golfer. I always have to try and beat the golf course. I've been this way since I started this game.

Today we will have 345 guests attending BFCC's Thanksgiving feast and it will take dozens of hard working staff to accomplish. It is my hope to be home sometime during the 1st quarter of the Dallas game.

In the week leading up to last Tuesday's round in Tryon I unexpectedly got to the range 3 times. Weather and especially the letting go of Daylight Savings Time has taken away my ability to get a golf work out in after work these days. It's depressing, but this what happens each November. I have lost my swing instructor for the fall/winter as well as Hutch resumes his high school basketball head coaching duties. All three practice sessions saw nice ball striking. In practicing I found that if I changed my take away back to the way I used to do it (that is taking the club inside early, my instructor's don't want this) I was making better contact. I also at addressed the club head more outside (now between the center of the club face and the hosel) to make up for my tendency to hit my shots out towards the toe. The three practice sessions had me thinking........."I liked the swing I was going to have for my next competitive round." I did a good bit of chipping and short game work last week as well. I only practice putt'd  for 15 minutes each time because I would rather practice other things, but it still do practice my stroke.

 

Two days before my scheduled game down in Tryon Mike texts me and says because his kids all worked at the big hospital in Greenville and would have to work Thursday that he would be celebrating Thanksgiving on Tuesday and unfortunately couldn't make it. He guaranteed me that he would have 3 players for me regardless so do come on down. 

 

I stopped in downtown Landrum for my break. I  got in my 10 minute walk to stretch my legs following the drive down the mountain pass. The store fronts were all decorated with Christmas holiday cheeriness. Once again I relished my jaunt along the sidewalks of quaint downtown Landrum, SC. 

 

I arrived at the course, checked in, and headed to the range with a bucket of balls. Rick the starter tells me on range that he wanted to play but has to drive to Charleston for his family Thanksgiving and can't. Rick normally works until noon and then plays with us. I'm a little discouraged as he, Mike, and Carl are my Links favorites to play with.  I told him Mike wasn't coming but had told me he had some fellas for me to tee it up with so be on the look out. 

 

When I left Asheville it was 33* with grey skies and 30 mph winds. On the range in Tryon  at 11 AM it was 50* under direct sun with only 15 mph winds. This difference is why I travel almost a hour south this time of year to tee it up.
