Callaway Epic Max LS Driver. Hot melt vs Weights?

So Callaway driver with its 45.75 standard length at D3 swing weight is too long for me.

So I cut down the shaft to play at 45, and it went down to C9 and feels too light. Do you guys prefer to hot melt or add weight?

Also, if i were to add the weight, would you replace the weight with a heavier weight or would you get another 6-7g weight and put two weights?

Thanks.

Hot melt, but only after you know exactly how many grams to add to achieve the desired swing weight.  In the meanwhile, weights are fine, but lead tape would be even cheaper and can be added and taken off.  Weight kits can get pricey depending on OEM and aren't always easily available.

Callaway makes a 19g weight that they use on womens epic drivers to bring the SW back up.

Or use lead tape.

Where do you go around ordering one?

All the aftermarket ones I see have max weight of 14g.

I rather spend a little more and get the OEM one.

Hot melt as stated allows you to place the wight were you want it (I always lead tape first for this reason and dialing in swing weight). It also allows some sound dampening on the higher pitched heads (could be good or bad for you). Downfall is that HM is permanent so when if ever looking to sell with stock shaft etc...its a limiting factor (although HM with the stock rear weight could be manipulated if the buyer in the future was wanting to get a lighter wright if available etc)

Weights are great for swing weight. You are limited to placement to weight the weight track or ports are. Also this is nice for any future shaft length change for you or a potential buyer. Doesn't really affect sound (good or bad).

I almost always add 6g or so to Callaway heads. I also use lead tape to dial it in and then either go to hotmelt or just leave the lead tape! Reason is I usually add the weight near the face, as another sliding weight often will boost launch, which I don’t always want.

Wish I knew. I haven't tried to get one nor contact Callaway. My wife's Epic Max came with it from the factory.

Weight is always good in case you change shaft length/weight and need to reweight it. Hot melt is harder to undo!!

I added a second weight to my Epic Flash, as it also has a cut down shaft and needs more head weight.  I found an aftermarket set of weights on Ebay.

From what I've read, Callaway has a lot of different weight standards, so be sure to get the right one for your head.

The sliding weight enters the channel on one side.

So I tried this but I can’t get the EF weight to move in the track. Am I missing something?

make sure you have the inside weight in the right orientation and the right way up. it's very easy to mess this up.

next, move the inside weight around the track to ensure there is no dirt obstructing it. it's a very loose fit so it should really slide easy peasy.

next, with the head resting level on a towel, move the inside weight where you want the weight to be and then place the outside heavier weight on it. screw in the bolt.
