Dublin Area Courses

Greetings everyone,

 

Traveling to Dublin in a few weeks but won’t have a rental car.

 

Heard about: Island club, Portmarnock, Royal Dublin, Bray, Carton House, Palmer, etc... but not sure if they’ll be accessible by bus, train, Uber, etc.
 

Also, does anyone know if my attested scores on The Grint will be allowed for showing handicap?

What area are you staying in? My group will be there the end of September. We’re playing Corvallis Links the morning we land to adjust. I’ve looked at almost all of the courses in the area, and based on my research and the advice of locals I would recommend The Island over the others you listed. One word of caution, Uber is actually more expensive than cabs in Dublin.

Back in 2015 I took a cab to Portmarnock. Not the cheapest ride from the middle of the city, but absolutely worth it. Will also be there in a few weeks but only Dublin course on the schedule is Royal Dublin. Have heard great things about The Island as well.

North city center. Bookmarked Corvallis. Looks like a good find for the money. Noted about Uber, thanks for the heads up.

You won’t be too far from Corballis or The island. They are literally next to each other. Have a great trip!

First off, Not a single of these courses will ask for a HC.  But if someone there happens to be an arse and does, yes it will do.  

 

Carton House can be reached by bus, the bus stops right at the entrance.  Problem is the road is about a mile to get to the course.  The guys are great there - you could probably ask them to come pick you up.  Alternatively, you could take the train/bus into Maynooth, grab lunch and then take a cab to the course and then the same back.

 

The Island can be reached by taking the rail to Donabate and then grab a taxi for a short ride to the course.

 

Protmarnock and RD are easy taxi/Uber rides; but you can take the rail or a bus to Malahide and then the taxi.
